What? It’s the least honest statement he has ever declared. We have all saw how he had wooed her.

Now that I think about it, Penny's best friend is Amy, female version of Sheldon, and Beverly has been established as the reason why Leonard can stand being with Sheldon. So, in retrospect, Penny being friends with Beverly isn't so far off.

I love how they all think of Penny as pretty but not smart. Yet in the end they see her as their life line to acting normal. They all want her as their best friend. Just goes to show how much EQ penny has.

I'm also glad that Leonard's rude comment about why he married Penny (or partly why anyway) as it's a double standard that Penny always gets hated on and called mean etc but Leonard never gets criticised when he's disrespectful to her.

Since the character has been introduced its always been that they're strained, Leonard wishes they had a better relationship, but isn't sure she wants one. Before this episode Penny did not like Beverly, but treated her nicely and invited her to do things because having a relationship with her was so important to Leonard.
