I updated to 19 and had to revert back to 18.6.6 because 2 of the 4 projects I was working on would open and then just crash 5 seconds after opening without even a keystroke....

Is anyone experiencing the same issue than me ? I am way above the required specs and DR Studio 18 always worked like a charm. I have upgraded to DR Studio 19 in order to test some new tools, especially the very promising Color Slice and Node Stacks. But problem is I am unable to import any media (tried every method). The software crashes immediately after every attempt. I find nowhere in Blackmagic support, nor other places, any start of explanation about this bug or software behavior. It has nothing to do with unsupported codecs, corrupted files, virus, administrator issue, specs, studio driver, which have all been checked. So is it just bad luck with the beta thing, or am I missing another point ? I would be very appreciative for any help.

Hey Justin, Firstly a superlike from India. I like your way of teaching. I almost looked at all the top/best DVR tutorial channels out there on youtube. Most of the channels are so random wrt their content, information and tutorials and they are flashy too, which is not my style. But you on the other hand are so sensible and direct to the point. Thus, I really like your content. Moreover, for this reason alone, in the past I purchased a monthly subscription of the DVR Editing course from your website. I super liked your content, the structuring of the course, the way you explain things, etc so much so that I recommended it to all of my friends. However, I was not able to continue the course due to financial issues. May be in future I might purchase again as and when my financial situation gets stable or when there is a sale, or when you provide a coupon code or etc. I want this to be out there that "You are one the most underrated BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve Tutor on the internet". I updated to 19 beta. Why do it keep saying I have to purchase the program? I have a license copy of DaVinci resolve because I bought the pocket cinema 4k? I just updated to 19..

Might need to just enter it again. If you are on mac make sure you use the version you've been using, the app store version and the website version work the same but are a bit different when it comes to license.

Good advice, and very succinct. It is worth nothing that this is a beta version, so don't use it for anything important despite all the cool new features. And never update in the middle of a project! Edit: I just looked at the How to DaVinci Resolve 19 playlist. All sorts of goodies there. Check it out!

how exactly do you upgrade from 18 to 19? when i check for updates it doesnt populate?

If you don't have the mac app store version you can download it off the Blackmagic site.

Hi, I’m new to video editing and I wanted to install davinci resolve for the first time so I can start creating projects. Do you recommend installing the 19 beta 2 version or the 18.6.6 version?

If you're just getting started it doesn't really matter. Both will get the job done. Most of the new stuff is only accessible through a studio license. Focus on how to edit and not so much on the new features.

What about templates and presets we installed from third party? Can I lost it after updating? Is there any way to backup for templates and presets as well?

They should be fine. They are all saved on your system in an area that's not edited by DR.

Hi,why i cannot update to 19 in usual way? I would like when Davinchi is on the tab comes up just press update and that is it. all now i need to go somewhere in their allways comfusing pages to find Beta version and blabla...is this what i am paying them for?

Yes, you can download and use the newest version of DaVinci Resolve with any dongle. At one point a lot of fake dongles existed on sites like ebay, as long as the dongle is real you should be fine updated to a newest version. I still use the same key from 8 years ago.
