Our dane, Zuri, turned 2 in February. She weighs 133 pounds. She is very energetic. Loves running all over our 26 acres and is always ready to play or jump in our pond. She has always been shy and easily spooks (reminds me of a horse). She loves our family and other dogs, but doesn't care for strangers. She barks at them, but won't get close. She always keeps her distance from anyone and anything unfamiliar. Vet bills have cost no extra for her than for our boxer. And even though she is big, she is not a big eater. I'm a meticulous house keeper and Zuri adds no more work than most kids!! She wants to be with us at all times, but does well on her own while we are at work. She has NEVER destroyed anything. Definitely a breed to consider if you have lots of love to share and enjoy getting plenty of love in return. Work with your dane consistently and you will have years of enjoyment. Zuri keeps me active which is a great incentive that I need!!

My Dane Winston is very guarding. He does not like other people. Shows aggression towards strangers/dogs. But he is a sweetheart with us. I’m not disappointed with him but be aware that not all Danes are the same.

My current Dane is a touch different as they all have different personalities but please do plenty of research if it’s your first. Mine loves kids/people/dogs(but not small animals) but does extremely well in a 1700sq ft home. She doesn’t need much space as all she does is play with my two other dogs and sleep. If you do get a Dane get the gastro tacking done as it will prevent bloat. If I tried to get her to walk around my neighborhood twice she would lay down lol. And mine does show signs of being territorial over the house. An introduction is needed otherwise she will bark non stop. A plus is any person that see’s her is immediately in awe of the size and weight. Perfect guard dog WITHOUT being one. They have been phenomenal dogs and you’ll never find a breed like them. The love and affection they give/crave is unmatched. But remember giant dog=giant food bill=giant poop 😆 10/10 recommendation I’ve owned everything from Shepard’s to pits and Rottweiler and I’ll never NOT have a Dane. It’s a must in our family

Mine is a wuss. He's intact but soft and easy going. He sleeps on my bed. He had a dry skin condition that was treated twice already. We believe it is most likely an allergic reaction but to find out what COULD cause it, it will need an 8 week straight diet. His skin is okay now and he's not allowed to chicken. They told me when I got him that he was the quiet one. Perfect for me. He has his playing with Maggie, our GoldenDoodle but he is not energetic and I like it. He turned 3 in February and at around 4 that is when the average twisted stomach happens. So, by him not getting too excited and me watching like after he drinks or eats so that he doesn't go and do crazy thing then. I don't mind him being a wuss. My dane that I had before him died of a twisted spleen on the operating table. As they finished the last stitch, the heart stopped. That was hard, still hard but we had our moments in paradise. He just came beside me right now as i'm typing this for his confort moment. We are constantly together. I'm retired finally so it's great and perfect. ;)

I have 3 and I acquire them all within one year it was a huge undertaking, and an epic mistake. I love them to death, but I’ve never worked so hard in my life the shedding is outrageous. They’re on the all raw diet. Their coats are beautiful and soft. Nevertheless, they shed like it’s their job the food bill is astronomical, I took so much pride in my lawn , and looks like hell now finding a puppy sitter is almost impossible. I gave them a bath outside about a week ago as I was getting done with the third one. I was trying to get all my supplies back up in the house and he tried to jump on me and hit me in my eye, by mistake with his front elbow, I guess you could say, almost knocked me out. My sight completely blacked out in my right eye And I was seeing spots for almost 4 days, in the moment, I literally thought my I had come out of socket They all have three different personalities and one for sure I can’t board so for the past two years I haven’t been able to travel or go anywhere. I am a full-time pet dad.

Not accurate re exercise and requiring a large space. There is no way our Danes would ever join us on a run. They’re couch potato’s, max 20 min walk - then they simply look at you as if to say they’ve had enough and it’s time to go home. Also they’re not an outside dog. They absolutely have to be with you inside for love and affection.

Naw sounds like you just didn’t regularly excersize them as a puppy so now they’re out of shape and lazy. My dog needs a minimum of a mile walk twice a day, along with long games of fetch where he can fully sprint and stretch his legs and use them to their full capabilities daily if not then every other day.

@@HOWBOXINGWORKS thanks for this reassurance I was worried. My husband and I are both marines are we go on hikes pretty often, sometimes with trails up to 2-3 hours on mountainous terrain. Of course we take like 15-20 minute breaks every so often during them. We get her February 20th, and we want to take her with us obviously and I thought it would be a good idea especially if we start as a puppy

@@evelinlasso2093 yes please they are built like work horses more so , don’t forget to bring lots of water! And my dog seems to dislike being in the sun for a while so shaded trails are amazing. Or just taking your breaks in shade. If you guys keep it up frequently you’ll soon realize how athletic and strong these guys really are. They are really clumsy as puppies but with the right training and excersixe they become really coordinated and agile. So don’t worry about rough terrain.

As said in the videos they are prone to joint issues... if you want something to ride try a donkey. I can't believe that you all would use these people as example owners., especially as the narrator concurrently explains how much space these large dogs require. Finances are reality and should factor into the decision of adopting a dog, along with your life stage, work schedules, ages and abilities of family members, etc. So if you currently are not in a place to have land and the ability to fence it in, please don't get this breed, or any breed that requires a sizable amount of secured property. A cheap wire pen doesn't cut it if you truly care about having a healthy, safe and happy dog.

@@DogCastTvEng you're kind of incorrect. I've had many danes and mastiff and mixes of the two They are absolutely lazy. My current neo euro daniff will walk for like 20 minutes when we hike then find shade and look at us like we're stupid. My previous euro dane literally would not sleep anywhere but my couch And would go back to to door to go inside after 15 minutes in the yard he slept for like 10 full hours a day. They are incredibly praise oriented and want to spend all of their time making you happy. Also you definitely do not want to take your dane jogging. That's horrible for their knees and joints even if they are on supplements. If you actually take care of their coat with fish oil supplements, they barely shed. This video doesn't seem to be made from experience but again I don't know who you are so I can't say that for sure.
