The complete, serialized history of the American Civil War is told in this LionHeart FilmWorks original production - a multi-part documentary series which traces the causes, courses as well as the major events and personalities of the American Civil War. Between 1859 and 1865, this epic American story of struggle and survival was written in blood, and in this series is told mostly from first-hand accounts and in the spoken words of the participants themselves, through their diaries, letters, and memoirs. The series concludes with Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House and the surrender of the western Confederate Army to Sherman in North Carolina in the spring of 1865. It then explores the legacy of slavery and the consequences and meaning of a war that transformed the country forever.

Also featuring paintings from acclaimed historical artist Dan Nance. Produced during the 150th anniversary of the War - we are presenting our series from start-to-finish in easy to follow shorts.

@@WJack97224 However, many of the divisions in the US are based on lies just as they were back then. "Black people were meant to be enslaved by God", "the South will cease to have an income without slavery", "owning slaves is our birthright", "the Civil War was based not on slavery but on trade laws and state's rights", all lies.

I did find this: At the Constitutional Convention in 1787, delegates fiercely debated the issue of slavery. They ultimately agreed that the United States would potentially cease importation of slaves in 1808. An act of Congress passed in 1800 made it illegal for Americans to engage in the slave trade between nations, and gave U.S. authorities the right to seize slave ships which were caught transporting slaves and confiscate their cargo. Then the "Act Prohibiting the Importation of Slaves" took effect in 1808. However, a domestic or "coastwise" trade in slaves persisted between ports within the United States, as demonstrated by slave manifests and court records.

In Jefferson's early drafts of the Declaration he proposed the freeing of the slaves. The southern colonies obviously would not except such a proposal. To break from England all must be in one accord.

Slavery was added to the bill because manipulation of emotions is easier than manipulating facts. And since they couldn't fight states rights facts, they needed the emotional association of slavery to achieve victory over individual liberty, Slavery was on its way out of society, some were just getting there faster than others.

@@mattmang6308 In today's world do you really need a list spelled out for you? Really? This is why governments enslave populations, when you wait to be told without self education and awareness. The founding fathers went to war over 2% tax. on one thing. how many taxes do you have now, and how high are they? To do what? limit their power to control the people they exist to represent. You really shouldn't be getting your education from a comment section. If you can ask the question, you can do more than that too.
