The best part about watching these workshop videos is you claim you know squat about mechanics but you always ask good questions even if it probably is a stupid question to others , but somehow these blokes are just pretty chill and explain things clear and not just make fun of you for wanting to learn along the way
Always a pleasure watching a professional at work.
Your mechanics are very patient! I totally sympathize with the sentiment of how we can expect utube viewers to critique of how trades ‘get it done’. Thanks for the insight.

Totally in agreeance with you. Aside from that I learned so much watching this clip from mechanics who know their stuff still stumbling at times when put up against a problem. The fact they agree to be filmed throughout these procedures is truly fascinating to me. Not many businesses would allow this, hats off to you guys, love it. Whilst I don't have a 4800, the pull down procedure taught me heaps to lock away when disassembling my ZD30 in the future.
You’ve discovered gold with that mechanic!
Crank bolts and pulleys are the single biggest pain. Fitting a big ass claw puller in there is a pain but it works amazingly
Good vid mate, owning a 4.8 myself I like seeing how all this is done.
The guys working on your Patrol are very clearly passionate and professional in all that they do. You need to plug them more and let others know where they can go for professional, quality service. Can you please include a link in your KZread intro. I know you have mentioned who they are in past episodes but it is difficult to find. Thanks in advance and pass on me regards to them and let them know that given the opportunity I will be using their services in the future based on your KZread experiences.
So good Tyler. I am definitely not a mechanic but love watching these guys who really know there stuff
Great video mate, keep up the good work and it a big shout out to the mechanics to allowing you to show how it’s done. Look for ward to seeing the car on the limiter soon 🚙
Great video. Old mates sandwich looked good. Hard to keep the eyes off it when he was running through the gear
Awesome video mate. I've recently picked up a TB48 and this taught me heaps Looking forward to the turbo!!
GREAT Videos as always Tyler, keep up the great work !! 👍
With 330ks on my tb48 and rev limited most of those ks I'm now paranoid about my oil pump gears, didn't know it was a weak link, wish I didn't watch this video , 😆, enjoy all your content.
At 37:37 Tyler nice little spark there mate. Better get the boys to check it. Great episode too. Cheers. "harmonica balancer" Hahahha love it. I'm going to use that one.

Absolute legends! Would love to see all the mechanics out on the track with ya, it’d be hilarious!!!
When I did a rebuild on my 4.8 (head, rings, big end bearings etcetera) the best advice I got from my mechanic mate was the first step of taking the front wheels off and putting it as close to the ground as possible.
The 48 is weapon and sounds great when up it out on the tracks . Great vid and the guys do a great job and know their shit . 👍
Parts are so clean you could eat off them! Now i know what my mechanic went through the other day fixing a leak on my car 👌
that td42 comment destroyed the soul... forever hurt inside from folk in port macquarie haha
Great video thoroughly enjoyed it. The guys doing the work astound me , I’d pull it apart no worries but putting it back together might be a different story. 😅
I worked in the motor trade then moved to the aviation industry. That permatex aviation cement is not used anywhere on aeroplanes. The guys looked at me funny when I mentioned it.
I was just thinking about taking this job on for my TB48 so great timing and thanks!

I love the bloopers at the end ahaha good stuff man
I am early on in your videos and love them as I have just purchased a 98 GU 4.5 petrol. Im good with tools but not cars. do you have a video where you change from the Nissan bar which I have to the steel one? is there one if not why the bar you chose. cheers
Just put a breaker bar and socket on the balancer bolt and rest the breaker onto the right chassis rail and then flick the key to turn it over. Will undo it instantly
Super interesting to see this pulled apart, so many similarities to other Nissan 80's/90's motors. These TBs kind of look like big skyline RB's to me. I guess the same thing applies to TBs as it does to RB's, limiter bashing could kill a pump, having the same pump drive, the flat faces on the crank acts like an impact driver on the gears and shatters them. The upgrade is going spline drive crank collar/gear like Toyota pumps. Probably not necessary seeing as TBs are not going anywhere near 8k rpm.
Oh mate what a laugh your machanics are but very professional great content great machanics when do you have to change the timing chain on that motor thought you would do while its apart
Have you loctited the powervalve butterfly screws in the intake manifold yet?
👍 and mechanics seem like top blokes
purple rocker cover is mint, love it aha
it would be a mess i once snapped a conrod and put it straight through the side of the block
another bad weak point in the 48s is the bottom timing chain gear they are like glass and crack better to put a hardened steel one in while ur there i done mine was split love the video mate legends

G'day, great vid! Also, tried to buy some Oricom gear with your affiliate code and says it's expired, just fyi
Proper mechanics 🤙🏴
Fascinating 👍😊
The reason why items are cast or forged is that the natural graining that occurs follows the contours of the intended shape, thus giving immense strength. Machining from a solid billet does not give more strength, the only advantage might be that CNC gives higher accuracy. The word "billet"seems to be a trendy modern sales pitch IMHO!
When is the turbo going on ?
Automatic… spins… 😂 could hear the disappointment in his voice haha.
I would of put locktite on them screws for the backing plate oil the oil pump
Bring on the turbskis
Your menachics are good value... send them over my way (perth..;)
Broooooo it loook so sick without the roof rack and accessories pls do a video without the roof rack on
Sus the sandwich on that bloke!
What’s with some Nissan and Toyota water pump/ gasket shape lol😂
Huge job but very interesting
Top video
It's just like open heart surgery replacing the oil pump gear but I'm pretty sure if any one can break it your the man the way you drive the old red line master I hope your not going soft on us wots with the fancy rocket 🚀 cover I hope you don't wear frilly jocks any way cheers legend

Harmonic balancer doesn’t just provide somewhere for the belts to drive ancillary components. It is machined to reduce vibration and and dynamic forces produced while the crank is spinning. The sweet spot will change depending on load and RPM. It’s generally ‘tuned’ for a specific rev range.
Harmonica was a bitch to remove…..……..😆
Difference between cast iron and steel billet oil pump explain by a mechanic carpenter 😂😂😂😂 WTF ……
That water pump will get you demonetised
noice lots of $$'s
WOW. What the Efin hell did I just watch. What one does for preventative maintenance.$1k for parts, over 2 days for labor. At the end of it, you couldn't see what was achieved. I hope you had a deal going with these guys as far as costs go. My pocket couldn't afford that. How far does one go for insuring against breakages and break downs? In the end, don't drive it if you are scared something will happen, and that's not practical and not what you got the 4wd for.

You realise this is his business model right? 🤦🏽♂️😂 fix stuff on car. Make a video, make money. Take it hard wheeling, make a video, make money. Break it, make a video make money.

Big job but I guess you can never over maintain a car!!! Future proofing it for a turbo id imagine, this job wouldn't need doing on your average tb48 they are pretty bulletproof generally!!!
I mostly listen to your contentas whilst I'm driving my truck (probably 70% of the time), not really watching. I can hear your voice & the background noise over the truck's engine. But most of the time, the mechanics, Dem, Pop & Kai sound like they are mumbling. You obviously realise this, as you always add captions. I can't read these captions as I'm driving, & possibly others who do not know how to read or are watching the video, miss what is being said. Maybe get a couple more microphones that they can clip on to their t-shirt necks etc, so we can actually hear what they are saying?

Seems like you should be doing most of this yourself. This is your job aye? I probably seem really rude but I’m questioning if you know anything about your own rig or if you’re just trying to make a decent video or both.

if you watched any of this video with your ears switched on or you have watched any previous videos where Tyler has had mechanical work done, he clearly states in each video on more than one occasion that he knows nothing about mechanical work or component's i probably come across as rude but i am questioning if you are listening or even watching!

Well considering the blokes a teacher , maybe by him watching the pros do it he is learning , not everyone is willing to pull half their engine apart with no clue on where to start & end. I get what you are saying but cant be a pro straight off the bat lol
