Brilliant game, played this out in my childhood. There was talk of a reboot a few years ago but it never came to anything. Would love to see it redone, the sheer depth of the game still stands up now. Lacks what a lot of sports game do now, charm.

Imagine a game like this, updated to use modern tech not for graphics but for all the little details in the game - pitches, stadiums, crowds, sideline details etc. - fully customizable, allowing to make and edit teams and leagues from pub teams right up to global brands - doesn't need licenses just pure sandbox fun - I'd snap that up so fast.

I agree I think the problem with Sensible Soccer was always that the Swos gameplay was already pretty much perfect. The developers didn't need to change the gameplay they, were essentially reinventing the wheel and the new sensible soccers were just not as good. While I can understand the developers might not have been interested in churning out the same gameplay year after year I think if they had worked on all the little details like career mode stadiums youth teams etc they could have had a franchise that rivalled pes/FIFA/football manager etc

SWOS was a game I played on the Amiga 500 for hours and hours. I think SWOS took what was so great about Kick Off and made it ten times better.

ISS Soccer /PES were the best football/Soccer for 20 years up until 2021.

My brother had Sensible Soccer for the Super Nintendo, that was one of the games he played most on the system. I was never into Euro Football myself but, seeing what the game brought to the table it's not that bad. My favorite Euro Football game of all time was and still is Nintendo World Cup.

Man .. Sensible Soccer in my Eyes is still one of the best Soccer Games ever. It was not about the Grafics .. just the way how fluid this Game felld was incredible! Another great older Soccer Game was GOAL .. yeah it simply called that way.

I'd love to see a video on the Hot Shot's (Everybody's) golf series if you could ever get around to it. Great video as always though, i hope with these EA licences expiring, sports games can return to their previous glory

You should do Bottom of the 9th baseball or Bases Loaded because those games are a classic or even RBI baseball.

Sensi remains utterly compelling and playable. Great video on a great game that I think still holds up today

I originally played SWOS on the Amiga, at the time. I believe it was on the Amiga 1200. Fantastic game and I was blown away at the amount of teams you could play in the game. It was the first football game where I could seemingly play leagues within every country. Wanna pick like any Team in the continent of Africa? They were in there. They really weren't kidding when they used WORLD in the title. Especially in that time, no games couldn't claim WORLD in their title and mean it as much as SWOS did. You could literally play it forever if you just wanted to experiment and see what so many teams, from so many countries, played like, and see their players. They just didn't hold back.

You should also cover PES: Pro Evolution Soccer and virtua stricker

After I forwarded this video to my IRL friends, they were surprised that Sensible World of Soccer was the dominant ⚽️ video game franchise before FIFA (or that Sensible World of Soccer is even a thing to begin with), they thought FIFA was the only dominant ⚽️ video game ever. Thanks SoftdrinkTV for spotlighting this ⚽️ video game franchise, I certainly will get the Xbox Live version for myself so I can show it to my friends.

I never played this one haha, played Sensible Soccer 2006 (was Europe exclusive) and enjoyed it. FIFA's golden age was 10 to 14 on the 360. FIFA was solid on PS2, but PES was just on another level then (known as Winning Eleven in the US) EA released plenty of tie-in games for the World Cup, Euros, and the Champions League, all of which were good as they were just FIFA with a different skin. The pick of those is the 2010 World Cup game, which is legendary.

In other news, I jus started a new franchise on nfl 2k4 😃

I highly recommend touching upon Sunday rivals again. They have just added a major update based on presentation, postgame interviews and an even bigger feature. I also believe you should touch upon the community and sim leagues

SWOS is still the best Football game ever made.

I'd love for anyone to come up with a competitive alternative to EA's stranglehold on sports titles in general, but... as weak as EA's improvements are each year, it takes immense talent and software development infrastructure to do even what EA does. For FIFA to find a development house that can rival it, and WITHOUT all those major league licenses... probably won't happen.

Also, I wish there were "simpler" versions like this (OK, not this simple, but...) for soccer. I have FIFA 23 and they seem to be trying to find a different pass/shot type with every single button on the gamepad. I'm sure many FIFA fanatics/video game whiz kids think "Wow this is so complex, so many different shot types with so many different buttons! 😄" While I say to myself "Wow, this is so complex, so many different shot types with so many different buttons. ☹" There's gotta be a more intuitive way to alter pass/shot power, or something.

There’s a difference. Sports gambling is mostly aimed towards adults and Games like fifa and madden are rated E which means kids will be able to get the game themselves and spend money to buy packs

@@redjed100 regardless the issue is that kids can go buy fifa and madden without parental permission which has “gambling” and that can expose them into gambling by buying packs with either grinding through games or by buying points to have a better team quickly

EA FC is seriously my last straw with any form of an EA Sports related video game. Enough is enough.

I'm sure the game will suck just as much as Fifa did
