Before A Puzzle Gets Made by Cobble Hill Puzzle Company

Puzzlers are always interested in the printing part of how to make quality puzzles, but what they may not realize is all the work that goes into creating a puzzle before it even goes to the printer.
Cobble Hill creates many of its own images from an in-house design team. Some of our best selling puzzles from the Cobble Hill Creations team can be found in our Truly Original Puzzle theme. They're truly original because we either curated all the items in the image for a professional photoshoot or our design team illustrated the image.
However, the bulk of our puzzles are licensed from artists. While several of our artists are digital creators, many of them have stayed true to the old art of painting. Whenever we license an image that has been painted on canvas, the image is scanned so that we can create it into thousands of puzzles. But before it can go to the printer, we have to do a lot of clean up work ie remove hair, dust, colour enhancement. Because while a speck of dust may not be noticeable on the painting, when you break that large painting down into 1000 pieces, that one piece will have the speck of dust and nobody wants that!
So, this video shows puzzlers the process of how to make a quality jigsaw puzzle before it even get printed. Sometimes, we even have to change the proportion of the image to fit our finished puzzle size because the image is either too large or too small. Bet you didn't think of that, right?!
Please enjoy this video and the hard work that our design team puts into creating the most quality experience with every puzzle we produce. Thank you for being a Cobble Hill fan!

My local hardware store carries your puzzles and I have several of them. I really like the random pieces and the good quality of the cardboard. Also lovely pictures. You are my go-to brand for puzzles.

Awesome. When I found out just how much work goes into making puzzles, It make doing puzzles a more satisfying and enjoyable pastime. I feel like I am continuing the artwork that y'all put into making the puzzle. I don't collapse my puzzles. I tape up the backs and keep the finished puzzle. I don't want to lose the time invested in the puzzle. So I keep them. Thank you for all your hard work in making great puzzles.
