Beethoven: Symphony No. 6, 2nd movement | Paavo Järvi & the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
From the time of his youth in Bonn, Ludwig van Beethoven loved to go on walks in the countryside. Although he never revealed much of his personal life in his music, you can clearly feel here that he treasured nature.
Use your imagination while listening to the second movement of Beethoven's Sixth, and you can hear ripples on a creek and birds tweeting. To make it clear, Beethoven added a description, "Scene by the Brook," to go with the tempo heading "Andante molto mosso" (as though walking, very moving). Beethoven only rarely explained his music, but in this case, he added: "It's left to the listener to figure out the situations. Anyone who has any idea of life in the countryside can discern the composer's intent even without titles or headings." For the musicians, Beethoven goes into greater detail, writing in the score that the calls of the nightingale, the quail and the cuckoo are rendered by the flute, the oboe and two clarinets.
Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major, opus 68 is conveyed here by the award-winning Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, led by Paavo Järvi in performances that, when they first appeared a decade ago, made the music world stand up and listen.
Deutsche Welle and Unitel Classica present Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi, conductor of the year 2019, and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, recorded at the Beethovenfest in Bonn.

This is the first time since 1976 when I was 11 that I have listened to the 2nd mvt of Beethoven's Sixth, the Pastoral, Symphony...It brings tears to my eyes because I can veritably see what I hear through the eyes of a child, once again. Bravo!

This is the best of Beethoven... Along with his 3rd symphony, Eroica. I don't understand all the clamor over the 5th, 7th, 9th, etc.. Sure they are great, as all of Beethoven is. But this is so much more beautiful and makes you appreciate the world, instead of despise it. There's more passion, instead of desperation, and it shows!

The woodwind solo near the end is my favorite part, especially the part when the flute plays alone before the oboe and clarinet(s) join in. Very well done!

Every orchestra should be picked and organised based on merit and excellence, not on sex - no matter what gender. That is truly sexist. If it is truly the market system that has allocated these performers to their respective positions than there should be no complaint. I have no reason to believe that this orchestra was organised based on sex, provide me with evidence and I will change my mind - however I think it is wrong to speculate when we have no evidence to suggest such a thing.
