Marnie's Bio:
Canadian pianist Marnie Laird, praised as "…a technically immaculate, probing and authoritative protagonist" (The Miami Herald), enjoys an active career as a collaborative pianist, chamber musician, and soloist. Prior to founding Brooklyn Duo and Brooklyn Classical, Marnie spent three years as principal pianist of the New World Symphony in Miami under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. In high demand as a pianist in New York City, she worked with several opera companies, including the Gotham Chamber Opera, and was also on staff as a collaborative pianist at The Juilliard School after graduating. Recent performances have taken her to Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Merkin Hall, where her performance with cellist Matthew Zalkind for the Concert Artists Guild competition was broadcast live on WFMT radio.
Originally from Vancouver, BC, Marnie has been the recipient of numerous Canadian awards, including top prizes from the Canadian Music Competitions, Canadian Music Teachers' Association, and the BC Arts Council. Most notably she was awarded the Gold Medal for the highest mark in Canada on the A.R.C.T. piano performance exams. She made her solo orchestral debut at age 13 with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and has participated in the Tanglewood, Music Academy of the West, Kneisel Hall, and Banff summer festivals.
Marnie received her Master’s degree in collaborative piano from The Juilliard School, where she was the recipient of a full scholarship as well as the Orchestral Piano Fellowship. She also has a Master’s in solo piano performance from The University of British Columbia. Her principal teachers include Lorraine Ambrose, Robin Wood, Jane Coop, Jonathan Feldman, and Margo Garrett.

As a working-class, East London boy, I know little about classical music but as I sat and watched and listened to this rendition of utter beauty I feel no shame in admitting that I wept like a small child. Surely people like this lady have been touched by God.
Timeless beauty! In 500 years when all our contemporary music will be long forgotten, this will still be performed and revered.
This version gave me chills down my broken right leg. Simply, Beautiful. ❤❤❤
One of the most beautiful performances of moonlight sonata I’ve ever heard

Sorry for your loss, I’m sure she is as beautiful as she plays
Marnie Laird's performance is exquisite. Besides this, there is a richness in this recording. I am sure that it is the piano, as well as her playing, but I also think that it is the way the piano was "miked" up. The use of twin recording units seemed to capture all of the "highs and lows" of this beautiful piece, and in a special kind of richness. Just listen to the depth of the tone, and the resonance, and you will find it very special, and very rich. Great job Marnie Laird, and great job to the "Sound Technicians."

Nice recording indeed. However in the old days that twin recording unit simply was called a stereo mike. Two ears, two mikes. As simple as that. The complicated part starts with the ten fingers😉

@@BrooklynClassical beautifull playing, very talented amazing pianist, I love playing this piece, fortunately taught myself to play piano at the age of 15, I am 52 now, so been playing the piano for 37yrs, Beethoven was and still is a genius, all credit goes to the almighty God JEHOVAH for giving us our awesome brain in the first place, that makes it possible to play the piano and other instruments, greetings from wales uk.
How is it possible for a human to do this? Hitting tiny hammers with her fingers and I am in absolute bits

The most incredible thing is that he was deaf, and with the vibration of sound he made 70% of his works, he even cut the feet of the piano so the vibration could pass to the floor and he could feel better, truly a musical genius

Simply superb Marnie............l.
absolute perfection
Watching her play takes me back my grandmother ,who was a piano teacher watching her hands as she plays brings tears of joy thinking of my grandmother so beautifully done, thank you.
Marnie laird’s playing and interpretation of these pieces is exquisite. I purchased her cd as soon as I knew it was available. Whether you love these classic pieces or not you cannot helped to me fully moved by her playing.
I love listening to Marnie's piano play during my study. It would be great if there is a package of video recording for 1 hour non stop so that I may not need to repeatedly click to select the songs. It could be either classic or popular cover songs.

Motivation to sit back down at the piano and really nail this piece 👌
I NEVER HEAR MOONLIGHT LIKE THIS THANKS MARNIE
