Been To or Been In [Present Perfect Verb Tense]
In this video, learn how to use "been to" and "been in" in the present perfect verb tense with a location.
What's the difference between...
I've been to Paris.
I've been in Paris.
Both of these statements are in the present perfect with the verb "to be" and use a location.
But they use different prepositions.
We use "have/has been to + location" to talk about places we've travelled to (or haven't travelled to) in the past.
We use "have/has been in + location" to talk about a past action that continues until now. So right now you're currently in the location.
Learn more about the difference between "been to" and "been in" in the present perfect verb tense with a location in this video.

Aah ! You've drawn a clear distinction between the two cases of having been being not a little ambiguous to me ! So you're telling me that I ought to understand the 'been to' of one's own having life experience per se (; by my dictionary, it means by itself) and the 'been in' of one's having started in the past, but their continuing to stay there until now ! As of December 17, 2020, Thursday in Seoul, as for me, I have taken some good lesson in that very subtle difference in meaning of the two from you, and so Madame, I cannot help saying to you once again that I appreciate you having done such a helpful lesson that day ! :-):-):-):-):-)

Hey, J. ! How are you doing ? Recently I was thinking about the uses of the prepositions (of place) in, at, and to after the verb phrase "I have been..." as an answer to the question "Where have you been ?" According to my research, I have drawn some conclusions: 1. the speaker could use all these three prepostions aforementioned depending on the meaning and the context of the use of "I have been.." 2. If "I have been" means "I have gone", the speaker should use the preposition "to" 3. If "I have been" literally implies the present perfect of the verb "to be", the speaker should use either "in " or "at" depending on the position of the prepostion's object concercing the place. Please correct me if I'm wrong! thanks!
