Beehive In Old Shed Wall

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Beehive In Old Shed Wall
Got a call from "JC" the homeowner about a beehive in his shed wall. Went out & had a look, located in Gentilly of New Orleans, Louisiana.
The interior wall was not the way to go on this as there was built in shelves, work benches, etc... against the wall, so opening up the exterior wall was the way to go.
One problem though: there was a pile of debris against the exterior wall, old wood, leaves, a bunch of crap & a chain link fence very close to the building!
JC was very accommodating & cleared the debris & cut out a section of the fence for proper access.
Normally with lapboard I stagger my cuts, just looks better when putting the wood back but there was a decent bit of rot & termite damage so JC said it was cool to cut the boards right on the studs.
The bees were pretty cooperative even with all the cutting & pulling of the boards away from their nest, that's always a big plus!
This was a win win all around, saved a nice colony of bees & was able to help out a good dude.
If you enjoy my videos please consider subscribing & tell ya friends & family, much appreciated!

Some nice frames there JP. Always gentle, always kind with the bees. They do so much good. Never kill them. Have them removed by an expert like JP. JC made the right decision.

Tim Hottinger actually it has a lot to do with sea level & winters. The further north you go & sea level increases there tends to be far less incidence of termites. Carpenter ants are more of a problem in say New York than termites will ever be.

To demonstrate pick a board, any board, and let's pull it off and see. How about this piece of door trim? So I pop it off and holy shit everything is bad. Entire house. I really like his knowledge about other pests that hang out with the bees and his concern for the homeowners property. Many workers are not concerned. That looked like a carpenter bee hole they were using for access. I learned all about this with my mom's house. Carpenter bee makes a nice opening in the wood and bees and yellow jackets and every other insect moves in! Lesson, check out perimeter, eaves etc about once a month. And catch it early, prevention, prevention, prevention will save you so much!
