Fantastic video And may I say that while I myself clearly still have the maturity levels of a ten year old and could NOT stop giggling at various points, your delivery was perfect, calm, smooth - just tossing out the necessary terms without turning a metaphorical hair. Also, I know how to pronounce "coitus" out loud so thank you for that too. Immature jokes aside, the photography here is once again blowing my mind. Right about at 3:40 I was just gob-smacked by the way you captured the dimensionality of the Ophryoglena, how you made it possible to really SEE the roundness of it. No longer just a flat shape on an illustration plate, not just a pencil sketch in a lab journal, but a BODY. It feels somehow more real, almost tangible, in a way that may not be "special" to some folks but for me... magical. Really. Thank you so much for continuing to take us on this journey!

Is it possible to have an organism that conjugates but does not subsequently divide by mitosis? Of course this could not increase the number of organisms (and therefore this trait couldn't be selected for in a normal way) but could an organism exist in perpetuity exclusively via conjugation, or perhaps for many "generations" before undergoing mitosis?

Would they have the same memories as before, a mix of both, or be effectively formatted? i don't think it was ever specified how the Changelings from Deep Space 9 reproduced but maybe this is how :-)
