    I remember watching your channel years ago when I was changing careers to becomean accountant. I now have my Master’s in Accounting and am 50% done with my CPA exams. Your channel was so helpful during my career transition and I can't thank you enough! If possible could you make videos about your experience taking the CPA exams? Alot of the videos on KZread are older and I would love to hear your perspective.

    I'm currently finishing up some geneds at community College before transferring to a university. I'm 31 and only have food service/retail work experience. I worry a lot about how job searching will be once that time comes. I feel like because of my lack of experience, connections, and age I need to find a way to overcompensate for those short comings. Sorry for the rant 😂😂

    I just signed up to get my certificate in accounting. I'm so excited I have experience in the financial services field ranging from different positions but I just love Finance and Accounting so I pray I do well in classes LOL I'm really good at like budgeting at least my money so I hope the certificate will help me get a job into the field. I'm 39 now and my dad told me when I was 18 to take up accounting and I just did not listen. I took up everything else but but now I'm ready.

    What do you think of a bookkeeping and accounting technician certification for someone that wants to work in the office space . Do you think obtaining this certification would provide me with entry roles also am thinking if I like the certification course I can then go further to get my advanced degree in accounting or finance

    I would say, “yes”. I started in accounting with only basic courses under my belt. I worked my way up from clerk type accounting positions (AP, AR, assistant, etc.) to Staff Accountant BEFORE going back to school to earn two accounting certificates and an Associates Degree. My reason for going back to college was due to my goal of obtaining a leadership role AND be successful in that role. This is the reason I believe certifications can be useful for entry level accounting positions.

    Hello! I'm new here. I found this channel because I really wanted some guidance. I am new on my accounting journey. I just signed up for an accounting degree. I start next month and I am very nervous. I do have a bachelor's degree in finance. My current school doesn't have a Masters program in Accounting however after some research I decided to just get a second bachelor's degree. I found that it would be more cost effective. Plus my school will give me a nice discount since I am an alumni. I do have the benefit of working in banking for the last 17 years. So I have some work experience with finance but little accounting experience. I look forward to seeing more videos.

    Your banking knowledge is a skill asset to leverage in terms of reconciliation, processes and procedures. Reporting and financial statements may also be within your skill set and could be viewed as advantageous for an accounting position. Your degree type displays that you have basic knowledge of accounting. Some accounting roles ask for finance degrees as a requirement so you should be a good candidate for an accounting role.

For family /personal reasons I had to take a career break, returning to workforce. I will begin Macc degree in Summer or Fall. Should I pursue the Intuit(Creator of QuickBooks) Bookkeeping Certification?

    Girl, I don’t even know what to do because I literally just quit my job and I was the assistant of a controller and I was there for six months and I was working there my junior year. now it’s my senior year in college and I realize that I don’t like accounting That’s why I quit my job because I wasn’t understanding the debits and credits and I really want to pivot my career but I don’t know where to apply. I was thinking of financial analyst but I don’t even know what they do I just want to get away from debits and credits, journal entries, I’m just looking for a office job or work from home that pays well. I hope you can help me. Thank you.

I really love Accounting and made that huge career mistake when i did my undergrad degree... Now my fear is i will be done wit my masters at arnd 40, so my fear is will i be able to get good accounting jobs looking at my age... Do Accounting firms do look at age?

  • @TheeSimoneB

    @TheeSimoneB

    Ай бұрын

    You’re 36 but I don’t think an accounting firm will discriminate based on your age. I would say to apply for entry level accounting jobs now to get your foot in the door before finishing the masters degree program. I landed a job with an accounting firm when I was 39 years old. My past jobs were with non profits.

What advice would you give someone like me who has an undergrad in Psychology but is interested in transitioning into this career field? Is the Coursera Bookkeeping Certificate credible in your industry to get entry roles in the field?
