    Thanks for your comment, Tom! It is also awesome to see that you keep making great videos yourself! They are just getting better and better. This year we were supposed to go a month to Hemsedal/Norway to create new content, but it seems like we will have to come up with a different solution a bit later this year, when things are hopefully looking better. I had a hope, that it could also have been an opportunity to meet up and create some content together. I hope we will get an opportunity at some point to do a collab of some sort, that would be so much fun! /Janus

    Subscribed. Awesome channel. I like your skiing style. Captures the aesthetics of pre-carving, skiing with your legs closer together. I'm an old timer and an "expert" who learned to ski in the old school days so I can appreciate a lot of what you're doing here. I feel a lot of skills were lost when carving came in, especially relating to nimble short turns.

    Thank you, jiros00. I appreciate your thoughts. Yes, I think each era has had some truly amazing skiers. I am really amazed at some of the pre-carving old school stuff like Stein Eriksen and the top mogul skiers of the eighties and nineties like Jean-Luc Brassard. Impressive and truly inspiring to watch! The opportunities of a shaped ski and "modern" are fantastic and it is a never ending task to explore what skiing can be with this equipment. But some of the things that worked well on straight skis are still worth keeping in your tool box, in my opinion. It is all just movements you can use to create results and explore ways to have fun on the snow. Have a nice day! /Janus

    @@wildbill805 Sounds great, The Double Turn is a fun challenge to try and master. All of these things have been around for a long time, for sure. I sometimes like to look at the old stuff to see if some of the "forgotten" moves could be relevant in some way today. Maybe just as a fun challenge. I think "old School turns/moves" could be a fun topic for a future video. I hope you will enjoy practicing The Double Turn. /Janus

    What wasn't clear is why would you do this. Is it solely an edge control exercise or can it be incorporated for other things?

  • @InspirationalSkiing

    @InspirationalSkiing

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your comment, steven7650. It is definitely a good edge control exercises in my opinion. I also believe it can be utilised to practice a number of other skills as a focus exercise. The first turn gives you a feeling/some feedback which you can use to adjust in your second turn. I often use it to find a good middle position early in the day, kind of as a warm up exercise. After I have practiced this exercise and gotten used to it, I sometimes find myself intuitively do a micro double turn once in a while when I free ski, as another option for adjusting my direction, if i for example want to go a bit more across the hill at a certain point. Most importantly it is a fun challenge that gives you a bit of a different rhythm and encourages precision in your movements. I hope this clarifies. /Janus

  • @InspirationalSkiing

    @InspirationalSkiing

    Thanks for your comment and your suggestion, Anthony Sears. "Skiing with your feet", I believe, is a very useful concept for helping your balance on skis and move effectively. To me The Double Turn can be performed in a variety of ways. I agree that I in this video move a lot from my hips. Whether this is "wrong" depends on what you are trying to accomplish. The more movements you are able to perform well, the more options you have, the better a skier you are and the more fun you will have. I kindda like this style of doing it - exactly because it is quite a large movement which gives me a playful sensation of pressure and feels a bit like dancing. Somebody suggested to try staying low and moving more from the knees, which is also a great option. I suggest people try different options and learn from these experiences. Have a nice day! /Janus
