Beaver fun facts and Tulip Q&A
Комедия
THANK YOU Neil for the incredible donation!
Today’s video goes over some fun beaver biology and some Q&A about Tulip.
The one question I have gotten that I didn’t answer in the video is do beavers have a smell. In general the answer is no. Beavers don’t have a smell. It’s in their best interest for avoiding predators to not put off a smell. However they do scent mark territory and that substance is potent and smelly. Scent marking takes place just outside of the water on a small mound they create from mud. It tells other beavers who lives there but does a predator no good.
The other question I’ve gotten is regarding where do they go to the bathroom? Beavers usually pass waste in the water. This works well as it disperses without attracting a predator and it’s a great fertilizer for wetlands.
Anyone wanting to support our efforts can do so at the following links. Thank you!!

Holley, this video is so educational. You explain what a beaver is supposed to be like and how Tulip’s early struggles may keep her from reaching her full size - and she has those patches on her back left from that awful infection - but she’s so happy in the house socializing with her human, cat, and dog family! What fantastic fur, and a beautiful tail! I wish i could hear the call she makes when she greets you!
Thanks for the baby 🦫 tutorial, Holley ❤ Fwiw, I'm definitely not a scientist, but seeing Miss 🌷Tulip go crazy for bananas 🍌 makes it seem like they've got taste buds. 😊
Tulip has become an important beaver ambassador🦫😊.
I just want to give Tulip big hugs, she's so adorable.
"Nose? Oh you mean my banana detector, heck yeah it's cute"

LOL remember when Turnip hissed at the corn on the cob? He was so mad....at corn.
Thank you for taking the time to give us more beaver facts Holley. Its fascinating to learn about these amazing creatures, and particularly to hear how Tulip is progressing after her illnesses. She looks really healthy now ❤
That was fascinating Holley, a lot there I didn't know. Tulip is a wonderful model! Pluto, Mars and Neptune are adorable too ❤❤❤
Thank you Holley that’s so interesting about Miss Tulip and beavers in general. I love how she interacts with you all ! ❤❤❤❤
I love beaver education, almost as much as I love Tulip. Thank you. I think you’re telling us that Tulip will never be released, which I think everyone wants. Yes, we’re smitten! 🤩 😍🥰
Thank you so much, Holley!! ❤ This was very educational, really appreciate learning about these adorable and very important critters! Love Tulip and all her beaver kin! ❤️🦫❤️ And much love to you, your family, and all your other sweet animals there! 🥰
Holley, from what I learned as a nearsighted person, beavers are nearsighted on land, but in water vision is bent naturally so everything is normal. I was entirely amazed and relieved when I entered water and could see just how everyone without glasses sees. Pure liberation.
In a way it’s good Tulip had to be kept separate from Tater and Turnip bc she might have escaped too. And that would be so difficult for her and all of us. We love our lil Tulip. Such a character. Love hearing she makes a special call to you too!

! I haven't been here in a while, I didn't know that Tater and Turnip were gone. I guess I'd better go to the main page.
Hey Tulip 🌷 thank you for representing Oregon, as you are our state animal! ❤️👍🦫
In other words- they are simply amazing! These meeps would melt any heart. 7:57 - It's ALWAYS time for dinner haha
Congratulations Holley, you are doing a great job for the benefit of Science and for beavers 🦫 of course!!! Well done 👍
I love watching Tulip. She is so adorable! You are doing a great job rescue all the animals and taking care of them. Did you see Tater and Turnip again?😢
Thank you Holley. I wish I could feel that soft fur. It would be wonderful for Tulip to have beaver friends. But I think she will always love you the most. I could see her being the resident beaver foster aunt.

Thank you so much for all the information on beavers and Tulip specifically. She doesn't seem to be concerned about your rescue cats. Does Tulip ever play with them?
Thank you, Holly, for talking such great care of Tulip 🌷 ❤️ I love watching her and also listening to you talk. It is very informative when I used to get animals. I would read everything I could find about them. I taught 4 year olds my lessons would include animals and bugs 🐛. I wanted my kids not to be afraid, but respect all of them! Thank you again.
It’s amazing that the beaver allows such inspection.
The evolutionary adaptations of a beaver are simply amazing.
Tulip is a wonderful ambassador for her species. She is so precious. ❤❤❤❤
From one house's hallway full of plushies, to another house's hallway full of plushies! I remember my first encounter with your channel was the first major video of one of the rescues dragging spongebob to create a makeshift dam.
It’s amazing that something so cute & adorable can cut down a tree with her teeth 😱😊🦫❤!
They also have a pair of special sacs near their tail that are used to scent mark their territory. Unfortunately, perfume manufacturers sometimes use it for fragrances.
Thanks Holley that was great. Now you've said Tulip's fur is so soft I'd "really" love to pat her, more than before! I was thinking I wish my hungry cat was as quiet as yours, but then the meow was familiar! ❤❤🌸💕
Thanks Holley 😊🌷
HOLLY, I love you what your doing with Tulip, beavers are very unique animals. Just think they almost went extinct with the fur trade from their warm pelts used for hats and such. Question, are you going to keep Tulip or will she be returned out to the wild?

I think she has said it's a wait and see. If Tulip is able to be released when the time comes, then that is ideal, but if she can't, she can become an ambassador animal. My hope is that whatever is best for Tulip is what will happen, and am glad she has the help of Holley, Woodside Wildlife, and her vets to make that determination when the time comes.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I love watching the short videos, but also love your input as to what’s going on…why they do this, that, and the other! Cheers to you all 💕
Beavers are wonderful
So a beaver is kinda like a cat and a rat combined 😊😍 no wonder I'm so in love with Tulip ❤ (yes I have cats and rats 😆) ty for telling us this Holley and ty Tulip for being such a star specimen 🦫🌷❤
As a polish beaver enjoyer, I really loved it!
Loved knowing all these facts about beavers. They are such fascinating animals and I love that Tulip, at least, seems to be able to enjoy human interaction. My wish is that all beavers find a peaceful place in the world! And, I hope Tulip can become the best beaver possible whatever that turns out to be. Thank you for taking such good care of her.
I was wondering if they could see colors. Thanks for all the information
Thanx for all the information about beavers in general and Tulip in particular!! You're awesome Dr. Muraco!!😊
Highly huggable Tulip
Loved the video. Our house just loves Tulip. We have her plush. I might need more my family keeps stealing her. Lol.
Fabulous episode! Thank you all very much! Be well, stay safe all. Best wishes for all.😊❤
Thank you For the very informative and interesting video.love Tulip. Her fur is so very beautiful just like her!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic video and excellent information! Holley, you’re such a great educator for all of us beaver fans. Thanks so much for sharing this journey with us! 😁👍
Thank you for educating us on beaver facts. I never knew that about their scent marking and bathroom habits. They're very intelligent 😊❤
I love you, little Tulip!
I love Tulip. I really enjoy knowing about beavers. Bless her.❤
So funny, I love seeing updates on Tulip, she is the best.
Wow. Pluto sounds exactly like my old cat who we lost 😥 July 4th 2022
Dear Holley, thank you very much for the very informative video 🙏👱🌷🦫👑
8:14 tulip could become a peer counselor for the new baby beavers, you might say.😊
Thank you Holley and Family, appreciate the informative video.
What amazes me is most ppl can't touch their domestic pets in certain area's on their body...this angel like tulip let's Holly touch her anywhere for this educational video. I've found this to be the case with wild birds as well. When I'd rescue fledglings or even adult birds they never have tried biting...but our domestic birds sure did. Wildlife is amazing. U help them and I truly believe they know after awhile you did help them and the trust sets in. Sometimes it's even hard to make them leave. For those times a soft release is crucial. I applaud Holly for everything she does for tbese glorious furry ppl. There is a very special place by Saint Francis in heaven for u!
"Shrieks of the Damned in the background"...... No comment.🤠
Love it! Thanks for all the interesting facts!!
This is wonderful Thank you
I remember Tulip wearing her cute body and throwing a tantrum because she did not get more banana ❤❤❤
Thank you.
I like learning nature facts, thank you.
Great beaver facts 🦫🦫🦫❤️❤️❤️
I love her so much!
Great info! Thanks!
Very interesting; thanks for the info.
Excellent intel on beavers in general, and Holly specifically. Now go fuel your part of the solar system!
Great facts learning
Für mich ist Tulip das niedlichste Biber Mädchen auf der ganzen Welt. Die dunklen Flecken im Fell stören gar nicht. Und das sie relativ klein ist macht sie um so putziger. ❤
Ur parrot 🦜 too funny
Thank you Holley for doing all you have for these precious little beavers. Question, So we see Tulip do her awesome Air Grooming, and its the cutest thing I have ever seen. Grooming is an instinct beavers have, correct? From what I have seen they start to groom at a very young age, and they also will learn some grooming skills from their parents and siblings. Holley, do you think that the Air Grooming she has been doing is instictual? It seems as tho she doesnt know that she is smacking her lips and tongue. I dont know why, but I find this to be just fascinating!! What are your thoughts???

Great question. Beaver families groom each other and the orphans start grooming us and each other very early in their life. Tulip is very different from the others but it happened after the skin infection. I believe that with time and practice she will get better. ❤️🩹 I’m watching her closely and although I don’t want her to have to take more medication, she may need some nerve relief at some point. She will sit in my lap and let me rub her back for hours it seems.
Tulip must be able to taste bananas
Raccoons are furry and cute too, I like both of them.
I have two important beaver questions. Why do they love raw sweet potatoes so much? And will they continue to eat all the time like that or just when they're little?
They can't see good but they can easily detect movement. Stand still by their pond and wait for them if you want to see them in the wild.
I’ve heard a beaver slap it’s tail as a warning when I was walking by a beaver habitat. Did scare me a little.
Yes cool named ur cats after planets
Will she be able to be released in the wild or will she need to be cared for or in a zoo setting as an adult?
Ich würde gerne wissen ob es hier in der Community auch Deutsche Fans gibt und ob wir in Deutschland auch Biber haben? ( In welchen Gebiete leben sie in der Natur? )

I think they’re just in North America, unless brought to Europe. Same for raccoons 🦝

You have a wonderfully resurgent beaver population in Germany. Germany has led the way in Europe with protecting them and making it illegal to hunt beavers. Here in the UK beavers were extinct for 400 years. But in the last 20 years they have been reintroduced into our wilds. Some of those new beavers came from Germany and Poland. There is a difference between the North American Beaver (Castor Canadensis) and the Eurasian Beaver (Castor Fiber). The two kinds of beaver look almost identical but their chromosomes are different so NA Beavers and Eurasion Beavers cannot interbreed. Here in the UK we owe Germany and Poland a huge "thank you" for letting us have some of your precious Beavers so that we can repopulate out wetlands.

@@catharinadohrn213 das klingt ja traurig. Warum ausgerottet 😪...das sind so seltene Tiere hier bei uns in Deutschland. Ich finde sie verdienen mehr Anerkennung.
If you have a sense of smell then you have a sense of taste it is the same part of the brain that is responsible for it. For example cinnamon actually has no other taste than bitter it is our sense of smell that causes the illusion of taste. Most complex tastes are actually aroma.
Dr. Muraco: while we appreciate the "basic biology" class, you can't charge your viewers! Note: Tulip preens to appear at her best for her worldwide audience! Tulip does NOT store fat! Tulip is not FAT!!! What about buying some eyeglasses for Poor Tulip? That bird in the background is desperately trying to be included in the video, and would like to play with Tulip! Please provide an update on Tulip's contractural lawsuit against SpongeBob's producers for failure to pay Tulip for SpongeBob's guest appearances. "Socialization Skills": how 'bout Tulip's own KZread channel!?!! We will send you our cat: she will teach Pluto how to make the most agonizing and antagonizing wail that's it's time for the hoomans to feed us!!! 🥰

You're an uptalker? That's when at every pause? your voice inflection? goes up? as if you're asking a question?
Holley, thank you so much for Beaver 101! I'm pretty sure Tulip has a strong sense of taste, as evidenced by her banana obsession. 😊🦫🍌❤
So cute
Thanks for the information, I really enjoy learning more about these fascinating animals 🦫
