You,re a good bloke with that mate , satisfying work , water is life , release it & assist life , the ground can dry out a bit & become a little more productive , the flora & fauna ( plant life ) around that creek recovers & blossoms , but , a simple question for you , how quick do the beavers rebuild the bloody dam again with an average population ? I,m not trying to get sarky , genuine question , as the mad bunch here are threatening to release the damn things , & I,m dead against it . Flooding is already playing merry hell in some regions of this country in high rainfall times , not neccessarily winter . This is due to no maintenance being allowed on the rivers & "creeks " . By the way , your creek is as wide as some canals here , I,m impressed with your J.D. ...I,m, in england . Best Regards , & look forward to your reply .

@BigCreekFarms
3 жыл бұрын
I trap a little as well and yes they usually rebuild any damage over night but in this case they have not yet. To much damage to repair and the fact they have no water to retain now this dam was built in a flood type situation when the water left they had a dam in place to hold back water
@mueckenhoeffer3 жыл бұрын
Machine videos are always relaxing. Is the landowner actively trapping the beaver making all that? If not, they'll be right back at it, reusing those nice mounds of building material you've stacked up there. For the amount of power those excavators have, they sure are quiet!

I have an actual question: why destroy a never dam? Holding back water allows it to saturate the fields and land over time. I know out west (Utah, Nevada) beavers are being reintroduced into creeks and rivers to help the land recover from when they were removed in the 1800’s. There are multiple videos and documentaries about it. Why not let nature play it’s part and work around it to help the land stay healthy? Just don’t know what your thoughts are on this and if you have ever seen the destruction that came when the beaver were removed from the waterways our west.
@BigCreekFarms
2 жыл бұрын
I rekon that beavers and animals really do own the land but as a farmer trying to raise a crop and produce food i cant have them flooding a 100 acres of my crop removing the dam doesn’t rid them of our creeks but things work differently out west then our deep creeks and levee systems do in these parts beavers here rarely build huts to live in either they dig holes in the banks to live in
@WhoDidThati
2 жыл бұрын
@@BigCreekFarms 🤔 well I reckon you know a lot more about your land than I do. Was just thinking of if a drought hit, having saturated land or maybe a high ground pond that’ll seep through the ground wouldn’t be a bad thing. I enjoyed watching this video. Thanks partner.

Beavers are good for streams.That farmer's field is too close to the waterway. Ur right- it is very satisfying to watch

Very impressive machine operation! Smoooooth! How long did it take the beavers to rebuild the dams? I am a nuisance trapper and have seen them rebuild a dam overnight.
@BigCreekFarms
3 жыл бұрын
I trap a little as well and yes they usually rebuild any damage over night but in this case they have not yet. To much damage to repair and the fact they have no water to retain now this dam was built in a flood type situation when the water left they had a dam in place to hold back water
Machine videos are always relaxing. Is the landowner actively trapping the beaver making all that? If not, they'll be right back at it, reusing those nice mounds of building material you've stacked up there. For the amount of power those excavators have, they sure are quiet!

I have trapped them in the past but this connects to a larger creek and new families move back in yearly! This trackhoe would be much quieter if it still had a muffler. Thanks for the comment!

Why is it so satisfying to watch beaver dams get torn down? I could watch this all day. When i was a kid we had a small creek way out behind our house and i would take all my moms pottery and go build a full on dam with a spillway, let it fill up, go swimming in it, then tear down one corner and watch it flood, build back up and repeat

Yeah their only removed if it caused issues like a clogged culvert or if the water is spilling onto the road. Other than that it’s illegal to mess with a beaver dam
You know someday in the future the beaver will evolve and have their own heavy equipment to work with. Be a whole nother ballgame then..... 😂

If you really want a s**t ton of beavers to remove you from their xmas card list, you should get hold of some ANFO. My grandfather use to blow up beaver dams. The beavers were none to happy with him and his chickens weren't overly thrilled with him either. It would take the chickens a week or so before they started laying eggs again.

Beavers are good for streams.That farmer's field is too close to the waterway. Streams need wide buffers so the water can meander back and for cleaning the water by letting is soak through the dirt back into the aquifer and reduce flooding downstream. Our water resources are dwindling and beaver provide water storage.
Can u imagine what fish are thinking if they get picked up too with the dirt?!?!😭😂.
