One of the best demystification video for portrait lighting I have seen ever on youtube and workshop. There is no way you won't understand this. Absolutely a grand simplification of portrait lighting. Every upcoming photographer should watch this!
Great video Joanie! I guessed all of the lights correctly. I only have one silent continuous light so the three setups will be hard for me but something to work towards. Love ya! x
Thnak you so much for this video! Its so easy to understand the lighting setup in the way you explained it!! xx
Great video ad content as always Joanie! I absolutely love your charming disposition. 😊✨🙏🏾
Omg the part of figuring out the setup on every video is so true😂 kinda takes the magic away but is inspiring too. Lindsay is ma fav! Just discovered your channel☺️
Great smile and laugh. Excellent video thanks for the tips
thank you so much for this and several other videos, good reference for me to buy the lighting for food cooking videos.
Background, hair and a butterfly light pattern on you as key. That's what I am seeing!
What a great video! Thanks!

Wow this was so easy to understand. Thank you so much
Very helpful video, thanks.
Thank you so much for this and many of your other videos. I’m setting up for some videos I’ll be doing and have been collecting some of your recommendations. I have a question though. For the headlight, is it important that the soft box be those rectangular dimensions? I can’t find those dimensions in SA so wondering if I can go square, or wider in one off the sides: like 30 x 60. Is there a maximum size I shouldn’t go over? 🙏
Thanks for splitting the video in two parts! 😅 Great example with these lights. Very instructive as always.

You are so charismatic and engaging!
Key light in front, hair light up top and one behind you for the background? 😀

Yes 😁
really loved this video Joanie! I'm wanting to get into KZread and this video was super helpful. I was wondering what you would recommend for someone with a smaller budget wanting to get a key light? I already have a godox octagonal softbox

For sure! A Godox Octabox is a great place to start with that single key light!
This is a great breakdown! I have 2 lights so it's nice to know that can still get by pretty well. It seems like with 3 lights the possibilities are truly endless! I do have one question, what C-Stand do you use? I have been in the market for one but not sure which are good quality and will last a while.

So glad it was helpful! As far as C-stands, I have three by Impact that are heavy duty and can support my heaviest lights and my camera without issue. For something lighter weight and more portable Matthews makes good quality ones.
Well explained and shown.👍
I follow 3 of your favorite portrait photographers.
Love how you structured this video, Joanie. It was so much fun seeing all the light combos!

You are so sweet! Thank you for this video. ❤
Thank you for this :)
wah that's what i need for my video
I think. You have one light low behind you. One light upper your right and one low in front of you. Now, to see if I’m right or at least half right.

Nailed it!! Totally right 🙌
The key light to the cameras right, the fill light to the cameras left and a front top-pish beauty dish? I think the key is a octa and the fill is a soft box? Okay I'm curious ... I may be so off :D
Lights - Above front, hair light behind to camera right and background light behind you facing background?

Good morning!!!
Nice, video
I told you a long time ago, you would make a good portrait photographer, dear, didn't I? That's because portrait photography is about interpersonal skills and...call it a "hunch", I think you're really good at it.

Hi. Suggested to tell who do we follow. There is one photographer that also like dark and shadows like in your food photography - Sean Tucker: kzread.info. The other one I suggest is Jordan Matter - crazy dynamic and very characteristic photographer kzread.info
