Not gonna lie, I teared up a bit when "Beautiful Lie" started to play. It's such a good fucking OST, and I never in a million years imagined it would be played in another movie. It caught me completely by surprise and made me lower my walls, made me reflect on the things I've lost and the things I want, and how there are no shortcuts to getting what you want without a steep cost.

I really like how in the first WW movie's message was "there's so much more humanity than just the bad things they do", and here it applies the same message to reality/the truth as a whole. "There's so much more to reality/life than just tragedy"

This theme connects the muti-verse. It represents an idea that truth isn't all good or all bad. Truth isn't justice and isn't evil. It just is. We live with it or destroy ourselves believing a beautiful lie that truth is all good or bad.

I love the idea of this edit, that every DC hero (or protagonist if we're including Harley and Deadshot) doesn't come 'a beautiful lie' that the world is all fine and dandy, they saw the world for what it was and they were terrified and broken by it, but rather than let that fear consume them and define who they'd become, they took it head on and emerged heroes.

When Deadshot gets hypnotised by Enchantress, he sees that he kills Batman. That's the lie!! One beautiful lie for him!! And Harley also gets hypnotised by her and sees that she is well settled with Joker and his real identity (which none of us know) and with a couple of kids in their own house, that was a beautiful lie for her!! So, we can put A Beautiful Lie theme there as well despite of the fact that it is a DCEU Batman theme.

I didn't realise until watching this video, but in the DCEU, the Waynes die in 1981. Three years before this scene. We all know what Bruce would have wished for - and what he renounced when he heard this speech. He accepted his parents were gone, but that he could be a hero. Diana made him Batman. When he asked her, in BvS, where she'd been, the answer was that she'd been in his heart the whole time. Clark had been on Earth for four years. We know from Man of Steel that those years were painful for him as his body adjusted to Earth's environment. What would he have wished for? To not hurt any more. For a four year old to renounce a wish like that is as heroic an act you can imagine. And ever since, Clark could never turn away from helping people, no matter how afraid his parents were for him. Diana made him Superman. But Superman doubted himself, even after he learned of his origins and Jor-El - throughout MoS and BvS, he's questioning what he should be. And Batman has lost his way, becoming a cruel shadow of what he wanted to be. When did Clark make his final choice to be Superman, and Batman start back to being a hero? When they met her again. It's not all down to her of course - there are many other reasons in both their cases - but Diana helped to make them what they became.

That's a beautiful story, and I never realized that the timelines joined up like that. But I have to point out that in my opinion there's no way Bruce Wayne got his wish. The evil genie only gives you your wish if it is a stupid, selfish, hateful, and/or greedy wish. A wish made out of genuine need, compassion, or love, the genie won't even hear that, let alone grant it. A homeless guy that wishes his family had a real place to live or an orphan wishing his parents were alive, Max Lord points out in the movie, he doesn't want to help those people, he wants to help those who want more than they need. Now I could actually see young Clark making and renouncing that wish. A little kid wishing, "I wish I was like the other kids and didn't hurt all the time," that's perfectly understandable, but since he could live without and and deal with the pain both physical and mental (and we assumed he did until we saw this movie or read your post about it) it might well have technically qualified as "selfish". How many comic fans, whether you saw first saw it in a comic book thirty-five years ago, or when you watched the first Wonder Woman movie, said, "I wish I could feel what that lasso feels like, I want to test my will against the Golden Light of Truth, I don't care if I lose, I just want to try that." Let me point out that when the genie steps in the particle beam that it counts as magically touching anyone anywhere watching a screen this is being broadcast on. So if you watch this movie in a theater or even a dark room, you're getting bathed in a golden light. Steve Trevor is too sensitive, it doesn't even burn that bad, it just tugs on the heartstrings a little. I made three different wishes in this movie and I got to keep two. Max Lord said on the plane that he'll bend the rules for those that play along with him. I took him at his word, I wished for selfish comic book fanboy BS that would benefit nobody but me, and I got my wishes. Little Bruce Wayne wished for his parents back and the genie didn't care.

At first. I hated the movie. But something kept telling me to watch it again. Watched it again. Still wasn’t a fan. But something told Me to watch the movie again. And it was the third time that it hit me. Everything you said + This was the scene that made me realize I need to start therapy and stop lying about my past. No amount of witchcraft or 11:11 wishes was ever going to change the reality of what my life was and is. It hit me so hard I had a mental breakdown and almost admitted myself to a mental wellness clinic because I couldn’t handle Pandora’s box of emotions pooling in. I’m doing a bit better now but my and bestie (who loved the movie upon first view but who had been going to therapy for 2 years when his depression hit a peak) agreed that there is a certain level of emotional intelligence one must have or experienced to truly allow the theme of this movie to resonate in their hearts, spirit, and mind. Otherwise, if you were some bitter washed up fool like me who always ran away from the truth then guess what? You’re going to hate it. Talk shit about it, say the message sucked, failure, miss, and etc. just know the people who are saying that, haven’t come to terms with their truth yet. And Diana would want all of us to wish nothing more than for them to see their own truth in time and that they will heal ❤️

This is one of the best scenes in any superhero movie. Period. It speaks to it's audience and touches our hearts. We all wish for the world to be better, but if we take a shortcut to get it without accepting things that we can't change and move on beyond that then we will just feel shallow on the inside, and that is the truth.

I think using "Beutiful lie" made this movie so much better. Everything seemed connected in this moment. I wish they show Bruce who gets the possibility of bringing his parents back but he resignes. BTW altough the whole movie was very "progresive" with bits of SJW, the main moral of movie seemed very traditional. We can't just make perfect world by simply wishing for it because we our very nature is not perfect. We must accept that and work on our world day by day. It's like Aristotle winning with Plato. And that theme that You can't be a hero without sacrificing your private happines is also very traditional. It's similar to Aragorn saying "I'm giving hope to others, but i leave myself nothing". I wasn't expected such conservative moral from the most progresive character in DCEU. And back to main subject: the montage is awesome #restorethesnyderverse
