Beautiful horse transformation

A tricky young mare who won’t load for anyone ! . Watch how quickly in real time that all changes and virtual loads herself ! . The wonderful thing about this short visit is the owner ( on maternity leave ) does it all herself with just a few pointers here and there from yours truly

Here in the US I've seen videos of ranchers using a trick to load quickly. They take a stick and tap on the horse's hind quarters very gently. Then keep tapping (just touching) until the horse makes the slightest movement. When the horse stops moving commence tapping lightly again. I have seen used effectively and quickly quite a few times to get a horse into a trailer quickly. I love your work. You are so gentle, kind, loving and graceful. And other equestrians learn from your example.

Pressure from behind, release when they move, pressure again when they stop, release when they move….? I would love to hear what Steve has to say about the rear light tapping method.

Yes I have done that tapping on my horse’s shoulder/forearm very gently and rhythmically with a short dressage whip, until I get a step forward then stop. So the horse gets a reward by stopping the tapping with each forward step. Very quiet, very easy no drama. It worked even when my mare had a rug on. It was brilliant.

This is such a generous offer to help other people who can’t afford it, and if you could film every one of them in exchange for giving them help, that would be a way for them to give back, as it will be a huge learning boon for everyone in the world. I think a mix of showing a little, next leading with the owners, and then having them work on doing what you are teaching them is your best approach. I suspect you will be able to refine and evolve your people training methods too so that we common mortals can learn even better from your brilliance and kindness. Thank you so much for sharing your horse and people wisdom with us out here. I will be near horses when I move to Germany and appreciate knowing better how to be around them. Also my daughter has a large draft horse, and this is helpful for when I am with them.
