Probably the most beautiful death for the most tragic love story ever

I always understood Makarov's revival as the last result of the curse of contradiction, the universe balancing out the death of two people that should not be able to die by giving life to someone that was dead. And with Makarov and Mavis having the connection with his birth and his mother's death potentially being Mavis' first accidental kill,... it just kinda worked, it didn't really bother me as much as it seemed to bother other people. :DD

You are not alone with that theory. I had similar thoughts.

At 3:55 the translation is wrong. Laxus is saying じぃじ "jiiji" (grandpa), and not じじい "jijii" (old man) and it's the first time for him to call Makarov grandpa instead of old man. That detail makes the entire scene 100k times more emotional 🥲

He called him Grandpa before. Episode 48, when Makarov expelled him.

Zeref was a great villain, I loved how his inner conflict constantly showed throughout the show. And his and Mavis's ending was so beautiful 😭 We are nearing the end here on yt and I really hope you'll watch the 100-year quest when it comes out^^

Don't worry Faxx; most people had that "get up and nearly walk out" reaction to Makarov reviving. Pretty sure Mashima said that he "wanted a happy moment to contrast the sadness of losing Mavis and Zeref"... seemingly not quite realising that letting them both finally die *was* the happy moment? (Looking at everything as a whole; you can really tell Hiro tried biting off more then he was capable with in this arc and was just failing to keep all the plates spinning by the end lol)

Ending of this arc seemed completely rushed tbh, it seems like Hiro was told to speed things up. Makarov should've died for real and Acnologia was not fleshed out as a character at all.

Mashima always does that... apparently killing a character only for later reveal they are not dead. But it's not like that Makarov surviving this came cheap, since he lost the strength to walk.

It made for a great emotional moment and perfected Erza stopping Natsu and Gray and was the catalyst for Natsus FOE power that killed Zeref. Along with the one magic that finally gets used. Idk why fake outs piss people off but I do get how it can get repetitive.

This was INDEED a beautiful ending for these tragic lovers 😭 Would've been cool if this "Ankhseram" god played a more active villainous role. (When this scene came out in the manga, I remember people COMPLAINED about Makarov remaining alive)

Glad there's more fairy tail this July but If you are looking for a new show I humbly recommend Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood.

Had the same reaction to Makarov as Frax Would have been the perfect send off for Makarov and marking a new era for Fairy Tail

I really dislike that Makarov was revived, threw away his entire sacrifice plot. There is a sort of logic to it though. Mavis and Zeref die due to the curse of contradiction, which should be impossible, showing it reaches into the realm of miracles. The final contradiction is the fact that 2 immortals died, so to contradict that, the curse (or even Ankhselam) revived the dead which brought Makarov back. It's dumb, but it makes some level of sense if you just ignore the elephant in the room.

Again it is never explained but I already do it: Makarov does have an explanation, August was conceived inside Mavis when she and Zeref kissed, he was born from magic, the contradiction was not killing an immortal, but 2 curses that should kill create life. When Zeref and Mavis die in this Cap, instead of creating a life, the contradiction causes life to return, basically Zeref and Mavis' sacrifice revived Makarov.

But they did the deed tho theres a couple panels of them both naked in a lake n they embrace as well n in the anime when they both say this is the world were we met(something like that idk the phrase word for word) we see mavis legs n feet walking n its foggy n we see zerefs Silhouette n that guy with the cross his power that we first see is effecting people who have done it n mavis has only been with 1 man(zeref) n zeref has never been with a women cuz hes always afraid of killin people n so when mavis apparched him that was the first time someone has done that n he fell in love with her so yes both their magic was combined in for agust cuz he inherted both from them cuz they did it
