BEAUTIFUL DISAPPOINTMENT - Review IQON AG10

Спорт

Review of the IQON AG10 carbon skatesI I bought from Nicola Torelli. They came with Wizard 3M Intuition liners. They looked wonderful. I mounted one of my favourite frames, the Rockin’ MIX5, on them. My expectations were sky-high. But I didn’t feel it. I couldn’t do any wizard skating with those. Urban skating was fun, but I’ve cheaper setups that are even more fun.

The good thing is you have a ton of boots you love. So you have many options to fall back on :) worst thing would be to search endlessly without any options in sight :(

Yes, indeed! Some people are really struggling with finding a skate that fits right. I consider myself very lucky in that respect. And for the AG10, I've still got heat molding as an option to fall back on.

The fit is a huge difference. I got these boots and even with stock liner they feel amazing, I must say that my mondo measure of 25.5mm was in between size 40 and 39 according to the sizing table. So I went for the smaller size, it was painful the first sessions but after the break in period is all good (haven't heat mould either). The only negative comments about the boots is that its a bit of a trouble to fit intuition liners (the non-wizard version) and the lacing system, in my boots some of the D-rings where the laces go through already broke. Disclaimer, I still need to try the seba cj boots, so i can't compare them. But so far I like the ag10s, specially because they are less bulky than the cj boots.

Yeah, I would really like to try the MyFit stock liner! But unfortunately, it isn't sold separately. Now, a friend of mine also has these and he's still struggling with pain, to the point that he practically stopped using his expensive skates. I've now put my Intuition V2 Small liners in them (the Medium didn't work) and I'm hoping for some dry weather to test them.

I love my Iqon AG10s,you are spot on that the key is get the right size,I find the narrower fit in front than Sebas helps me with some pronation tendency.

@@TheRollingRaptor I had the same, I even thought I needed one size bigger since I had to take them off every 5-10 min. But that goes away, and afterwards the fit is very snug yet comfortable to wear for hours in a row.

@@TheRollingRaptor by the way, I forgot to mention, using flat waxed laces makes also a huge difference, with the stock round laces of the ag10s is difficult to keep them uniformly tight

Heat molding when it is already too wide?! I hope it is gonna work out.

Yeah: the idea is to make the carbon flexible and then lace up _real_ tight, so the fit adapts to my feet. (Which is the point of heat molding, innit? 😉) The carbon cuff is also too wide, so heat molding will help to bend the carbon into a shape that better suits me.

I have tried them with the intuition premium and they were too tight, with the v2 they are incredible! My mondo is 260mm in EU 41. I ride with kizer element 90 frame.. urban killers!!😉

Thanks for the tip! My V2 Medium was way too tight as well, couldn’t get my foot in, but the V2 Small seems to fit quite right. Fairly tight around my toes, but I’m gonna try it soon!

Oh, consider yourself very lucky! I'm a bit jealous now. 😅 But good idea you've got there. I've got a pair of Intuition Premiums in my USD Aeons, I will try those as well in AG10. I _really_ want that boot to work. 🙂

Crazy, eh. But a bad-fitting boot can really destroy the whole skating experience. The IQON AG10 is lighter than the bulkier Seba CJ Prime, and still it felt heavier since I had less control.

A shame to hear that. I have hope however, as I have narrow feet and I'm slightly bigger than a 40 but too small for a 41. I absolutely have to purchase carbon boots and heat mold them for a skate to properly fit.

Well, I'm working on solutions. First thing I tried: the Intuition V2 liner, size S. Worked way better than the Wizard 3M Intuition. Great fit: I had the control I was hoping for. Only (major) downside: my toes start aching after about an hour or so. My feet are just a tad too large for the Small V2. And the Medium V2 is too big to get it into the skate. But I've got other options as well. :-) Have you already tried an insole? That could help too.

  • @TheRollingRaptor

    @TheRollingRaptor

Sorry, pal, but it seems you didn’t comprehend the message of my video. Which was: the liner I got with the IQON AG10 didn’t fit the boot and I had to find a solution for that. For the record: I’ve found a solution. (I now very much like riding the AG10, video coming up in a couple of weeks. 😎) Another thing: in this video, I’m clearly speaking for myself and about my own disappointment. But you seem to take your own feet as the golden standard. Now, if you know other skaters, you should know there’s no one-size-fits-all: what fits great for one person can feel awful for someone else due to the shape of their feet. And did you really compare _all_ skate models available to make such an outrageous statement? I mean, I’ve got 20+ pairs of skates and even I wouldn’t dare to declare something the best (or worst) skate you can buy on the planet. And the again: it all depends on what you’re planning on doing: aggressive, wizard, urban skating … Apart from all that: thanks for your comment! Keep rolling. 🤘
