Im from South Africa. Nobody does concrete driveways. Only paving bricks. Some upmarket homes have exposed and polished concrete driveways. Not many contractors know how to work/ finish concrete like you do. I love concrete and enjoy watching your skills and tools!😄💪🏼

Upmarket in Africa? So a mud hut with a window?
100 Percent respect to all involved for the skill it takes to do a complex job like that and have it come out looking that good. That definitely rates Five Star and 10 on the Professional Grade scale. God Bless Jeremiah 29:11-13

I'm from the UK, we mostly have paver/brick driveways in patterns, or just lines. Asphalt is the next most common really. Some properties are now starting to use concrete, one house on my road got a stamped stained driveway and it looks nice. Another lovely high quality job from Odell as always! Great video.

Wow Tim that work is on a whole different level. I've never seen that before. A diamond pattern is hard enough but adding turf between the pads looks sick dude. Somebody got their money's worth!

I'm in Southwest Pennsylvania and a grid pattern/smooth finish is almost impossible based off plowing snow and fall protection. Looks great though! Concrete with the Haus channel is the best representation of southwest Pennsylvania.

Im from far northern cali near reno..we tend to use glass trowels more than mag...I personally run glass most days pulls it up well for me. I love a nice heavy broom finish..being up in the colder climates it def lasts a lot longer. Beautiful work dudes!

Great job. Enjoyed both videos. Remember you asked, no, I don't like astro turf or brick inbetween concrete squares or diamonds. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate hard work though. Different strokes for different folks. That was a lot of concrete, LOL. Around here people put in traditional plain concrete driveways with expansion cuts.

It's a show piece driveway for sure, great for a model home or maybe a high-end flip. For myself (considering cost), I'd go old school concrete or blacktop.

@@OdellCompleteConcrete My comments are not intended to dog your creativity or skills. However I'm generally/naturally adverse toward projects that emphasize form over function. The isolated 'island' slabs concept you've shown here are food-for-thought in terms of easy future replacement of individual damaged modules. This might be especially useful for northern cold/salt areas. Thanks for sharing the video.
I've seen some driveways have the diamond pattern with a cedar wood instead of the artificial grass here in Texas. Awesome work on this driveway.

Disclaimer!! I am a novice in the concrete industry but I’ve done a decent amount of it for our shop (industrial manufacturing facility) to save money. Like a truck ramp and a water tank and some sidewalks and stuff. Also have done a ton of small to medium sized slabs for residential projects and rental properties that we have. My father started out with nothing and learned how to do everything himself and he still loves to take on a project and avoid hiring it out if possible. It honestly bites us sometimes because we aren’t focused on what we’re good at and instead we’re spending a week doing something that we could have paid a pro to knock out in a day or two. Anyways, we’re in Northern Michigan (COLD!!! And tons of snow off of Lake Michigan) so we’re pretty experienced with concrete and what it does in the winter weather. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one done like this up here but I wonder if it would hold up better than it would seem at first because the turf breaks would allow for plenty of movement between the smaller individual slabs and maybe reduce cracking and heaving over the long term? Just a theory but I think this would perform really well in the cold weather as long as the prep was done properly (compacted base, good drainage, etc.). I may have to try this on a small scale to test that theory out!! This is amazing work. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Very nice

This looks so nice! Great job guys! Curious though, with this fancy driveway and that fancy garage door, is it too fancy for that neighborhood? I know this is SoCal and 1200 sq ft shack cost half million, but still.
Good one! In Fiji we do this with real grass.

Keep on concreting boys👌 We don't do much diamond pattern but we do 4 and 5 foot 90 degree squares. Looks damn good and btw they do make 45 degree edgers lol
@OdellCompleteConcrete
Жыл бұрын
Yes TY
Damn, that looks great. What maintenance would be involved with the turf, if any? Would this be possible on a driveway with a drop on the end going towards the street?
I personally love the super smooth finish on concrete. You guys that know what you’re doing can make it look polished almost!! That’s the best looking finish in my opinion but up here in the cold weather, everything is heavily broomed for obvious reasons. It’s honestly for the best as I’ve busted my ass on wet polished concrete that was poured inside of our shop before! I can only imagine trying to drive on that!
hey Timmy Odell, my sister and I currently live with my parents in Maryland and I hate ruff broom finish because I was born and raised in Cave Creek AZ for the first 9 years of my life and we had light broom finish everywhere and it's my favorite because I could walk outside barefoot in our driveway or at the park without it ruffing up the bottom of your feet but it still had enough texture to keep you from slipping on it when it rained and if you accidently drive over a curb onto the sidewalk it's less likely to scrape up the paint on the underside of your cars front/rear end or sideskirts and rocker panels or skin your knees and elbows really bad if you fall!

Yeah we can depending on job size since it’s alittle far
Concrete is about $245 a yard for the mix i use in my part of northern NY. A small load of 3 yards or less can you run close to $300 a yard depending on who you use.
