Beautiful Begonias In My Garden
The genus Begonia has about 2000 species of plants. It is an important genus in ornamental gardening both for foliage and flowers. Begonias can be broadly classified into 4 categories: Fibrous/ Wax Rhizomatus/ Rex , Cane, and Tuberous. While the Wax begonias and Fibrous begonias are exclusively grown for flowers, the Rex and Cane begonias have beautiful foliage and do produce occassional flowers. The Rex begonias are almost exclusively grown for foliage. They have leaves in various shapes and textures and produce beautiful blooms only once a year by the end of winter and beginning of spring.
Begonias are the understorey plants of the forest floors and will do well in bright light / filtered sunlight. They are no fuss plants when they are provided the right light conditions and watering when top soil dries. Leaf or vermicompost can be added once a year. The interesting feature is that the flowers are edible and can be used in salads for sour taste and crunchiness.
They are also easy to propagate from cuttings, leaf cuttings and leaf veins.

You can apply bonemeal to the plant directly. Sprinkle a little around the plant. Do not make solution and spray I have not yet tried propagation of orchids
