ATTEMPT THIS REPAIR AT YOUR OWN RISK
I'm back at it again folks! Someone else has ask me if I could fix their broken device and I accepted the challenge. Today I will be repairing the headband portion on a pair of BEATS headphones using a trick that I learned in model building.
Items you will need:
Super Glue (preferably, the gel kind from Loctite)
X-acto knife
Scissors
Left over plastic packaging (or almost any stiff plastic)
Clamps of some sort

As a few others stated. Same break, same spot. Seems to be a typical problem with the Beats product. Anyhow your video confirmed the fix I was thinking to do.
I have the exact same broken spot on my beats too...

I took them out of their shell, put them on my lap on the bed, waiting for them to pair, got distracted a bit, and the next thing I know, they’re broken. I don’t even know how it happened.

not genius, common sense, seriously i had this idea way before finding this youtube video, it does *NOT work* and i used the high quality epoxy "turns to plastic" type of glue (package says can hold up to 140kg) glued inside, used the plastic sheet method on the outside as support. Eventually it broke AND the plastic bit that slides broke aswell
Quality fix mate. My pair were exactly the same as yours (model, colour, site and appearance of damaged area). I tried the repair with superglue alone and failed miserably. The clear plastic was genius. I'm back listening to the jams I love the most. Cheers for the help, brother. Peace.

Mine snapped in the exact same spot. It must be where the bridge is the weakest due to where they fold. 😭

Superglue is useless for these types of repairs along with glues like epoxy. You need Hard Plastic Glue - The type you would use to stick broken car indicator lenses. I have purchased it in the UK from Tool Station.
Dude it worked :) Thanks for saving me about 30 bucks. The idea of adding extra plastic was really clever!

my 1st generation Beats Studio headband cracked while I was changing out the cushion. Though it didn't completely snap off, your solution looks like it'll secure it perfectly and prevent it from breaking. Thank you!

Great info! Thanks! I followed this yesterday to fix my headphones. The only thing that I added was wrapping black electrical tape around the part where I glued the plastic because it looks neater to me on black Beats.
Thank you man , I had the same problem but it worked
TWO Pair, Same break. I'M 61, Enjoy Jazz and Coffee in the a.m., Love the Skullcandy units. Both broken same location. THANKS FOR THE HELP, Tom in G5
Great video, didn't turn out 'pretty' but I repaired my headset band, stronger than before, and it was properly snapped in half. Thanks!
Hey good idea using the plastic to hold it stronger together, at the same time gives it that little needed flex too. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I have a pair of Solo 2 that broke, more or less, in the same spot. I'm going to try and fix them the way you did. Will give feedback asap.

Ok guys I have the Solo 3's bought them a few months ago and the right ear was not working. At first I panicked, fidgeted around a bit and got it back somehow. This time, I started applying lots of pressure because in my case it was loose or something. I was punching the right side somewhat soft/hard (in the middle) and noticed as I kept my fist on it it I could hear it. I simply kept doing this and eventually applied so much pressure after I punched it I guessed it got back in place. Hope this helps

Hello. so the band on my headphones snapped. its not bears and the snap is near the middle, in between the cushioning. would I be able to fix it by using embroidery floss to keep it together, in order to keep it flexible but still holds together and maintain shape when on?

I have matte black beats studios and it's cracked like the one you were fixing but instead of it being cracked on the top part it's cracked on the bottom part. My cables pop out and everything. Could I still fix it?
mine got broken from below it where u can stretch and pull for extension, i using electric tape to hold it but it does stretch out due to pressure. so any idea for it.
I fixed mine with a close pin you use to hold paper together. and that sseemd to do the trick.
thanks for uploading this because my beats broke like that

@MoralRichMedia
8 жыл бұрын
+Henry Chingoma Hmm... I'm not sure....my main suggestion with the plastic is to use some that will stick and be flexible. Hope this helps...
I tried to just glue at first the plastic is genius
What glue did u used because my beats headphones is broke from the up side which join the speakers that long plastic is broke how I will repair that . I used super glue to fix that but it can't be fixed from me but it is not fix with wire from the down like yours one is fix with wire upper one plastic and down one is join with wires .my one is also broke so my one headphones have no wire in down but have plastic up .can u give me some tips too.
Would it work if I just glue it without the plastic?
What if I have a crack at the very top and every time I put it on it bends I've tried putting tape on it but it helped a little but not a lot think you can help?? Great video btw

Hello, you may be able to mak a clamp of some sort to squeeze the band to add some resistance. Or you may want to try to glue/add something to the outside of the sliding part to make is a little bit thicker. That may add the friction you need. Let me know what you think. Also, you can see how I used screws to help strengthen this repair in the part 2 video. Best regards.

Hello, thanks for watching the video...as long as the internal wires aren't broken the music should still play.
Yeah that was helpful 😊
I wish more good and not super expensive headphones had metal headbands so it wouldn’t snap from pressure at that area… a bit above the speaker takes a lot of stress from the curve and hard plastic doesn’t like to bend like that

The person who owns the headphones broke them again... the side that I glued the plastic to held together, but the other side broke. Be sure to check out the part two of the video where I used screws to strengthen the other side. Best wishes to you with this.
any chance you could make a video on how to construct a completely new headband? My headphones band sort of shattered so I removed it from the phones proper and they function perfectly but I need a new band all together. It doesn't need to be pretty just enough to keep it resting on my head >.>'

Julian Jones It depends on if you have a good flat surface to glue the added plastic too. You'd have to be able to add plastic to both sides if the band is totally broken apart. Be aware that it might not hold very well on the inside of the band.
