ATTEMPT THIS REPAIR AT YOUR OWN RISK
I'm back at it again folks! Someone else has ask me if I could fix their broken device and I accepted the challenge. Today I will be repairing the headband portion on a pair of BEATS headphones using a trick that I learned in model building.
Items you will need:
Super Glue (preferably, the gel kind from Loctite)
X-acto knife
Scissors
Left over plastic packaging (or almost any stiff plastic)
Clamps of some sort

As a few others stated. Same break, same spot. Seems to be a typical problem with the Beats product. Anyhow your video confirmed the fix I was thinking to do.

I took them out of their shell, put them on my lap on the bed, waiting for them to pair, got distracted a bit, and the next thing I know, they’re broken. I don’t even know how it happened.

not genius, common sense, seriously i had this idea way before finding this youtube video, it does *NOT work* and i used the high quality epoxy "turns to plastic" type of glue (package says can hold up to 140kg) glued inside, used the plastic sheet method on the outside as support. Eventually it broke AND the plastic bit that slides broke aswell

Quality fix mate. My pair were exactly the same as yours (model, colour, site and appearance of damaged area). I tried the repair with superglue alone and failed miserably. The clear plastic was genius. I'm back listening to the jams I love the most. Cheers for the help, brother. Peace.

Superglue is useless for these types of repairs along with glues like epoxy. You need Hard Plastic Glue - The type you would use to stick broken car indicator lenses. I have purchased it in the UK from Tool Station.

Ok guys I have the Solo 3's bought them a few months ago and the right ear was not working. At first I panicked, fidgeted around a bit and got it back somehow. This time, I started applying lots of pressure because in my case it was loose or something. I was punching the right side somewhat soft/hard (in the middle) and noticed as I kept my fist on it it I could hear it. I simply kept doing this and eventually applied so much pressure after I punched it I guessed it got back in place. Hope this helps

    9 жыл бұрын

Hello, you may be able to mak a clamp of some sort to squeeze the band to add some resistance. Or you may want to try to glue/add something to the outside of the sliding part to make is a little bit thicker. That may add the friction you need. Let me know what you think. Also, you can see how I used screws to help strengthen this repair in the part 2 video. Best regards.

I wish more good and not super expensive headphones had metal headbands so it wouldn’t snap from pressure at that area… a bit above the speaker takes a lot of stress from the curve and hard plastic doesn’t like to bend like that

planning to do this with my beats mixr. Broken at the same spot :( I know its another model but maybe it works for me. The only question i have is how long this 'fix' will last. Are you're beats still together with this fix?

The person who owns the headphones broke them again... the side that I glued the plastic to held together, but the other side broke. Be sure to check out the part two of the video where I used screws to strengthen the other side. Best wishes to you with this.

any chance you could make a video on how to construct a completely new headband? My headphones band sort of shattered so I removed it from the phones proper and they function perfectly but I need a new band all together. It doesn't need to be pretty just enough to keep it resting on my head >.>'

hmm... actually a good idea... been thinking about something along those lines for a while now. You really could make one out of almost anything (if you're handy with crafts or making things)... I'll give it some thought and let you know

Julian Jones It depends on if you have a good flat surface to glue the added plastic too. You'd have to be able to add plastic to both sides if the band is totally broken apart. Be aware that it might not hold very well on the inside of the band.
