Beatrix Potter: Drawn to Nature

Curator Philip Palmer takes us through "Beatrix Potter: Drawn to Nature" and shares how the beloved children's book author rooted her fiction in the natural world. Beatrix Potter, creator of unforgettable animal characters like Peter Rabbit, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, spent her childhood summers in Scotland and the English Lake District nourished her love of nature. Potter's famous menagerie of pets inspired her picture letters and published tales. Her study of botany and mycology established an abiding interest in the life sciences, a passion she would bring to rural life at Hill Top Farm in Cumbria, England.
“Beatrix Potter: Drawn to Nature” is open to the public February 23 through June 9, 2024.

Great exhibition. I enjoed it very much. I grow up in the countryside but I had never this particular insight or vision of nature. Beatrix Potter was very intelligent and creative. I came to visit JP Morgan Library but I find much more there.
