I was thinking when I saw that that they'd heard these questions so many times already that they'd worked out schtick to accompany the answers -- and this was only 1963!

The interviewer was Frank Hall who later presented a very popular weekly satirical programme on Irish TV. He does look impatient and a bit confused in this clip but by all accounts he was a pleasant man. Little did he know the legends the Beatles were about to become!

I loved this inquisitive reporter who, as many, did not quite understand what was going on. He seemed really interested in the matter. As we all later knew, this was a turning point in the universal cultural history. I think he was clever enough to perceive that and was eager to understand the phenomena. Bravo Mr Hall!

0:35 Strange that he singled out George when he said, "an Irishman here, George Harrison", when all of the Beatles beside Richard were from Irish descent. The surname "McCartney" screams Celtic ancestry. Liverpool, after all, is a predominately Irish immigrated region of England. The Beatles are more IRISH than English if you think about it. :-)
