I can't help thinking your videos started as court ordered anger management but you didn't stop after the parole officer said you're all done and paid your debt to society. Love the humor, directness, and tough genuine interest in the hobby. Just found the channel today and look forward to plowing through the catalog. Cheers

We're a crazy small channel and even we've had publishers contact us about partnership deals that include reviews. This industry is heavily polluted, which I guess shouldn't be surprised. Sponsored content is fine, but it shouldn't be reviews and at some point content creators need to start spacing out how many bloody Kickstarters they're shilling for the month.

Luke is a savage. Although there is a part of me that's a little worried he goes out of the way to be negative because that has become his brand. But it's fair play, because there are loads of bloody mediocre board games out there getting constant praise.

@@TabletopTurtle Fair.. on brand or not. We need more critical reviewers. Easy to be positive when you're getting games for free. The average gamer isn't that fortunate. I got heat from another content creator for saying that the new Everdell is "Milking their cash cow". Said I was putting down the entire team by saying that. Which I didn't get at all.. the executives in charge.. sure.. but everyone?? Art is meant to be criticized IMO. I don't get the view of only sharing positivity completely. Surrounding yourself only by Yes-Men leaves zero room for improvement. It was even more odd because I said the game still looked great and seemed like a great entry point for new players. Pretty sure they were projecting on some level. None the less I unfollwed them.. I don't need their holier than thou mindset on my feed.

@@TheAmazingYeti We did a negative review of Expeditions and the amount of random comments we had to do disecting our opinions and letting us know how we were wrong was mind-blowing. Could just be content creators don't want to put up with the fuss that disliking someone's favorite game comes with. But it's still just likely being positive to avoid a loss of access with certain publishers. Even if a company isn't give you money for the review, you may not want to step on their toes when they are giving you games months in advance of retail. The cost of integrity for a few more likes and views, I guess.

    1) Your summons can kill the animal/settler and complete the mission. You can still stay hidden though. 2) Every time you will reveal yourself You are taking cards and trace token from the map as well. You can use mini map and some small cubes (not added to the game) to keep a track of your movement. There's an digital movement tracker as well. 3) It's a draft game in general. You need to choose wisely and play wisely. At the beggining it's very annoying. Rulebook is shit. 4) I agree with lack of crescendo 5) Most important, on their websites you can find a lot of fan scenarios, which are, lol, better then original. Trust me. Big like for not kissing designers ass. Cheers

Where you from dude?😎 Good review , saved me some money if I had money to spend on board-games now., I probably would have bought it in the past just on artwork .It does look good, but that is about it , I see from what you say. Besides, it is always a reach to buy any hard copy board game now, since Tabletop Simulator is around, and if you can handle the UI and syntax motions of TTS. ------------------------------- Oh yea, if you really want some good multiplayer board-games I suggest, 1.Wizard's Quest by Avalon Hill (found for cheap), 2.Divine Right by TSR (hard to find , very expensive) 3.Fortress America by Milton Bradley (also hard to find , fairly expensive) all these games are 40+ years old/out of print . I am not suggesting reviews, I just think you would really like playing those three games,

6:08 How can you complain about both the fact that there's "no" hidden movement and then claim that you have to track movement over the course of an hour of gameplay? Every time the beast reveals itself, the movement cards are discarded, because you don't need to track it anymore - it's been found! So which is it? Is the beast always being revealed, in which case you'll never have more than a negligible stack of movement cards? Or does the movement card stack get too overwhelming, in which case the beast has been hidden the whole time? And at 7:32, how have most of your games ended with the beast killing a hunter? You don't lose if a hunter dies. The hunter comes back the next day. Is it maybe possible that your complaints come from you just not understanding how to play the game?

My first dislike on this channel. Totally disagree on the negative. Cards are not collected in such a pile - the beast appears earlier and the entire deck is discarded. What do you mean it's not covert movement? In Dracula, you can also find Dracula and he will stop hiding. Dracula feels like an outdated long craft compared to the beast. I'm very disappointed with your verdict

I think there is a really good game underneath it all, but the first issue is the imprecise rulebook. Second issue are some questionable production decisions. That is expected from the first time KS. I do think that majority of criticism stems from the fact that people are mad that the game frame itself as a hidden movement game, when in actuality it's not. The fact is that the designers AFAIK haven't labeled it like that, and the obvious inspiration was a video game Evolve, which IS NOT a hidden movement game, but one-vs-many action game (actually FPS) with elements of hidden movement. The important part in Evolve and in Beast is to develop a strategy for honing your skills and weapons in order to be more efficient in wounding an enemy once it's revealed. It's more important to be able to do a significant damage to the beast once it's revealed and to be able to be more deadly as a beast once the settler is in your reach than to just reveal the beast and expect that this is a crux of the game. So, to sum it up, you should be pissed at the YT shills more than the designers, as they didn't frame the game as a hidden movement one. Some obvious errors in the video: 1. Once you're revealed, you discard your movements cards. If you play against 2 decent hunters, either they are retarded or they will manage to hunt you down with you having max 4-5 cards. If it's too much to remember, you can use small cubes. 2. You have a flee action which means that you can ALWAYS discard one card on your turn and move 1 space. So you're not stuck. You cannot combine flee with playing the card, but people cannot make you stagnant by only hate drafting. 3. You don't discard items and beastly talents at the end of the round. You discard leftovers from the marketplace, you only discard action cards from your hands. (passing by counting actions cards of all opponents is pretty clunky though) These errors make a huge difference in a gaming experience. While all that information is inside the rulebook (also, the one where you have to put a reveal token once you pass over the hunter or the settler which also is thematically sound), they could've done more graphically to make it easy to understand. Many people have similar questions, which means that the rulebook is not that good (although I had almost 0 questions after reading it, I admit that the wording and examples could be way better). But in order to fully experience the game, I do think that you should try to play it with that errors fixed and having in mind that you're not playing a hidden movement game.

For the reference: 1. Page 11: "Flee: Discard 1 card of any type to move 1 step. You cannot combine this with playing a card." 2. Page 15: "Gain item: Whenever a hunter plays an effect that says gain an Item, that hunter chooses either one of the face up Items or takes the top card of the deck. Items are one-time use and Items in hand at night are not discarded." 3. Page 15: "Gain beastly talent: Whenever the Beast plays an effect that says gain Beastly talents, the Beast chooses one of the face up Beastly talents or takes the top card of the deck. Beastly talents are one-time use and Talents in hand at night are not discarded."

Same here, I think the problem is on the rulebook and the lack of clarity. The screen system help the beast player to keep track of the real movement. Is clumsy... Yes really clumsy but not unplayable. About actions, is a draft, so you need to keep track of your picks instead of taking cards just by picking. This game is about balancing the actions. You still have a basic action of movement discarding a card. I totally understand your frustration, and this is happening to a lot of people. You miss the opportunity to have a great experience because of the unclarity.
