What an idiotic take on the Raiders. You don't take quarterback just to take a quarterback. Don't think they were interested in any QB's besides Daniels and Penix. Tried to move up to #2 but you can't force a team to trade their pick. If you don't feel like McCarthy or Nix are clear upgrades to what you have, why would mortgage your future for one of them?

The Raiders are notoriously awful at drafting. I mean awful. I can give a long list of why. You draft a tight end at 35 last year, you develop him. You don't turn around and draft another one in the first round. A waist. It doesn't matter if you have two tight ends unless your gonna run two tight end sets all the time. Plus if you don't have a legitimate qb it ain't gonna matter. When AL Davis was alive he'd always draft the fastest player on offense or defense at the combine. Raiders are beyond incompetent almost as bad as belichick drafting.

As a Bears fan, I remember being excited after JF's rookie season that we all hoped he would grow and be the "ONE". @ year 3 season opener vs GB, that hope is on life support. That is why we drafted CW, now I'm excited again. Poles should get most of the credit, he has a solid plan that is now looking better and better.

I’m an eagles fan and one of my best friends is a bears fan and I agree … this year or at least the future if Caleb isn’t great year 1 had good outlook going forward. I don’t think it’s a given he is just this unstoppable force year 1. It’s very possible it’s not a talent issue but it’s rare because the NFL is still the NFL. Regardless though, y’all had a great draft and the future is bright

Raiders got a great draft haul, not sure how they’re a loser? Bowers is a fantastic addition to an amazing amount of weapons. They play it out with Minshew and AOC and if it doesn’t work get a QB next year in FA or the draft and you have a ready made offense for him.

Last 2 coaches he picked have both made it to the Super Bowl Lmao against prob the 2 greatest QB’s in NFL history when Patty is done… both coaches got there because they knew how to get the best out they QB weather it’s hiring the right coordinator or building their confidence lmao. Both should of won, but the only reason Sirianni didn’t win was a combo of Mahomes going god mode and our Def forgot how to play football in the 2nd half. I still give him plenty blame for last years collapse because I think they biggest problem over everything was both our coordinators which he decided on. As a pure coach though I don’t mind him at all, the puts ultimate confidence in all his players and will always land on the sword for his players and coaches no matter what, and with vet proven playcallers and not 1st time playcallers to go with our roster I’m good with seeing how it plays out. But to think he can’t pick a head coach is a pretty wild thing to say considering he didn’t pick chip and they 2 he picked in Pedersen and Sirianni we both considered 2 of the worst HC decisions upon hire for both to make it to a SB. Are they perfect or the best, not by any means at all, but to say he can’t pick a HC is really a statement that makes no sense. Lol

Howie also picked up three additional picks in next years draft, while addressing immediate needs.

The Raiders took their L, no teams were willing to trade. So they said ok, we'll just shoot for Shedeur, Carson Beck, or Quinn Ewers next year. So instead they got the best TE in the draft who nobody really expected to be there at 13, so that way next year when they DO get their QB he'll have weapons. Makes sense to me.

@@ronnellhillman7260 Righr but the point is, Telesco and AP wanted a QB and we know they either wanted JDan or Penix. And that tells us they know AOC and Minshew aren't starters. So they are around them more then us. So they know what they see in practice that we don't see. They could have made a move for Rattler or Jordan at the least. To get someone to compete for a starter position because we never know what they could be. But we know they were very good at college and more specifically Jordan Travis. He fits the jayden Dan play style and only reason why he dropped was he broke his leg. But he has healed up. He was projected to go 2nd or 3rd round. That's how good he was. Go see some film on him. So they just needed to take a RISK instead of doing nothing at all

I don’t feel bad for Cousins, he chased money his whole career. This is what can happen as a result.

Its funny how Brock Bower was a top draft pick until he joined the Raiders then all of a sudden its a terrible pick.

BAD BAD take Joy. The Bills had a phenomenal draft..one of the few teams that hit EVERY single need. They drafted high character players because they are so young but they are also talented. I'm kind of baffled by everyone's take that the Bills arent scary anymore. Not sure what this is based on...and the defense is in better shape than the offense is and the offense will be much better than people think...should be better than last year. High profile names don't guarantee wins.

Yeah 66 QB's played last year and I think the number for the past 2 years was like 130 something. There's so many teams that have 2 QB's and they literally just explained how valuable it is to set yourself up down the road for success using the Draft, so what's the real harm? We paid too much for what was widely considered the top free agent in the off-season? Or that we did the thing Drafts are supposed to do and secured the future of arguably the most important position in the sport? Kirk got money cuz he was getting MVP chants halfway in the year. We made sure he'd be willing to play for us because he and his family have history with the city and the team and the expectation to win now is perfectly in place to prove he's still got it. But injuries can cripple a team that is trying to compete (Jets, Browns, 2022 Rams, etc.) and a top 3 rookie QB is in your back pocket if anything happens? That's the stupid thing all of a sudden?? If it was any other team, I swear they would talk this up like it's a great idea and Acho did, as well as (much to my surprise) Skip Bayless and even Ocho

Brock Bowers is the best tight end (weapon) prospect in draft history and JPJ was the best center in the draft. As a Raiders fan I’m feeling pretty great if we got both Kelce brothers in the same draft potentially. Also Mayer has been alright, he’s not a HoF. Cam Newton had hall of fame Steve smith and put together one of the greatest rookie seasons statistically with over 4700 total yards and 35 TDs. Caleb literally has a superteam (offensively speaking) assembled for him. If he's even a fraction of what the bears are expecting, he should be able to put up some Newton/Herbert type rookie numbers. Personally, I'm calling 4,000+ passing yards, 300+ rushing yards, 35+ passing TDs, and 5+ rushing TDs. I think ints are gonna be the huge question mark. Bookmark this for later, I won't shy away if I'm awfully incorrect lol.

The Falcons actually took a luxury pick last year too. They're rookie RB Allgier just had a fantastic year as a 5th rounder and then they take a RB top 10. It's like they don't have any concept of spreading the resources around. I bet that defense is horrible and they miss the playoffs because of it.

Right move, wrong Quarterback. They should've taken JJ McCarthy. He sits for 2 or 3 years behind a high character, pro bowl caliber Q whom you would like him to become. In 3 years JJ is 23, which is still younger than Nix and Penix are now. You then got JJ for 17 more years.

As a raider fan I don't like that. We didn't get one of the quarterbacks, either. But I disagree with your statement, ocho. we all watched a phenomenal backup quarterback Nick Fole's win a Super Bowl with a stack team. I'm not saying we're going to do that, but I'm saying we can compete with Gardner. With a stacked roster, I think that is the goal as an organization right now until we can identify franchise quarterback

It's a two year deal basically for cousins. He ain't gonna be ready come regular season and you'll see Penix in a few games no matter what. Plus preseason.

Even with a bum leg.....he's oodles and oodles ahead of the rookie......an NFL playbook ain't something to scoff at....it takes years to memorize and master a thick encyclopedia of plays and diagrams.....just ask any NFL QB ... how long did it take till they were comfortable enough to call and audible out of a bad play.

@@ck7cu If he has a bum leg he won't even be able to play and we'll see Penix WAY sooner than what everyone thinks in a regular season game. Second, we don't know yet what Penix is compared to cousins. It isn't like cousins has tore up the league or anything.

I feel bad for Penix. He won’t get to start as a rookie, so he won’t go through the growing pains early. Then they’ll trade him or start him in two or three years, he’ll have to go through his growing pains, and they’ll say, “He’s been in the league for 5 years-why isn’t he better!” Then he’ll get benched, bounce around, and end up a backup somewhere

Im a Raiders fan and wasn’t happy we didn’t get a QB either but other than the first two picks I’m glad we didn’t mortgage our future to get something we’re not in love with. Those top 2 QB’s were the only ones i would mortgage our future but i don’t think they (those teams) wouldn’t be open to trade for a higher pick. IMO

The Raiders will be fine. I believe O'Connell or Menshew will be a decent QB good enough to get them in the playoffs

Why does Dave keep saying he like Michael Penix over and over and then turn around and say that Vegas had him going pick thirteen and he agreed with it? Is it up to Vegas to dictate because if another team would have grabbed him before that, he would still be upset. Now if he turns out to be one of the better Qb's he gets to continue to vomit at the mouth and not be held accountable

Raiders are preparing the team for the next future QB next year. They are doing the smart thing, and covering all the holes. They’re looking into the future rather then now. By next year the team will have a year of experience with the new structure. From there they can go all out on a future QB.

Howie got tired of all those “Georgia Dawgs” and went and scouted some actual players.
