Deer (White tail Deer) are very common where I live in Canada...to the point that they can be a traffic hazard and road signs warn of them. I live in a smallish city (Peterborough!!!... and it has a canal too!!!) and I do not live on the outskirts next to rural areas but I did have a deer in my back yard on one occasion! It obviously got too close to a window as my old cat was quite annoyed by it! Quite understandable why Doug was not overly impressed but then YOUR deer have survived millennia of hunting. Ours were hunted too but overall they have had an easier time of it. A cut throat razor... A bit too Sweeney Todd for me!
