Like both apps. After going back and forth between them many times I end up in Bear (for now at least) for the cleaner UI 😅 .

Totally agree. Especially obsidian mobile app is kinda ugly and buggy. But if you're using bi-directional linking you're going to see that Obsidian beats Obsidian.. You just have to get used to it (it took me several weeks!) Cheers

Bear is more congenial for writers, and as I like tags as first class citizens, I think Bear will be where I develop ideas. I am fond of Obsidians graph view as well as its new canvas. I hope Bear eventually catches up! Its a long wait!

I don't think Bear will try to compete against Obsidian's features. 2 different tools

I like the Bear experience a LOT. I am an artist and the image feature in Bear is super useful. I rarely use tags. I'm curious about obsidian, but to your point the iOS feature is not good. But I like the folder structure. Thanks for a great comp of the apps.

Bear’s web clipper is pretty good.

There is a tag pane in obsidian just like Bear. You can also nest your tags in Obsidian.

Prefer the simplicity of Bear. I spent more time customizing the app than actually making notes.

Simplicity trumps customization
