Bear's Den perform 'Elysium' for The Crypt Sessions
-----------------------
London based trio, Bear’s Den joined us recently for a hauntingly powerful performance of their single, Elysium. It’s an elegiac paean to the redemptive power of friendship and the song that marked the point Bear’s Den, for many, went from best kept secret to new favourite band!
Bear's Den are, Andrew Davie (guitar, vocals), Joey Haynes (guitar) and Kev Jones (drums, bass). Inspired by Maurice Sendak’s 1963 children’s classic ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, Bear's Den create music which whisper it dares to be both literate and profound while, crucially, remaining universally accessible. Since forming in 2012, the trio have built a fervent fanbase through their live shows and a dedicated DIY aesthetic that originally saw them self-fund tours and sell hand printed CDs direct to fans at gigs.
2014 has been quite the year for them; having played alongside the likes of Mumford and Sons and Daughter and not to mention sold out shows aplenty in their own right across the U.K. and U.S. Their critically acclaimed debut album, Islands was released earlier this year and recorded with long-term producer Ian Grimble at Church Studios. It’s lyrically both restrained yet richly descriptive, the product of Davie’s novelistic approach to songwriting.
‘Elysium’ is taken from the debut album, ‘Islands’ which is out now on Communion Records.

And the band will be touring the UK and Europe early next year, culminating in a massive headline show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 3rd March. Listings for the full tour as well as tickets as all up on the band’s official site here: www.bearsdenmusic.co.uk/live/
We’re delighted to let you in on the first of two sessions recorded for The Crypt Sessions. Enjoy.

'Brother do you believe in an afterlife, where our souls will both collide'. Rest in peace Conor. You were the best friend I could ever have asked for. I love you man, happy birthday.
My older Brother, he was the coolest dude ever. He was flying everywhere following his team Liverpool. Time after Time he was taking the knocks. Such a sweet guy and again im driving from North Wales to see him after hes had a stroke! Driving back to North Wales this came on the radio and every word so precise! Just hold out against the night Guard, your hope with your life... Now Love Bear's Den and still Love my Brother...
In a different society and environment, this video has billions of views... but then again, it also, somehow, feels good to see it's not that way.
Saw them support Mumford and Sons. Beautiful!

YES! It was truly awakening seeing these boys open for Matt Corby! x
this song got me into bears den so so brilliant
The sound of intens happiness... Tears of Joy
I connected with this song in the months when my uncle was dying from Motor Neuton Disease. My mum is his older sister and it just resonated with what her and my aunts were going through and every time I hear it, it breaks my heart. But it’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard in my life and I’ll keep listening
I personally prefer this version over the original... Has a lot more soul :-)

I think the mixing on the original was all wrong, the vocals were so quiet compared to everything else. The vocals for bears den should always be at the forefront as daveys vocals and song writing are so good.
chills. like a new song...or hearing it for the first time.
Best version I've heard.
I cant believe this version doesn't have more views
This song is so gorgeous. Great performance.
THIS IS PERFECT
I was playing a second backup trumpet melody with my mouth and it sounded amazing, haha tons of fun.
Amazing band and performance! Saw them in Cambridge, MA last year and they were awesome! Hope they come out with a new album soon!!
03.10.2019: the first time I listened to this magical mix of harmonical sounds ❤️✨
Love it! Can't wait to see them in Amsterdam on the 23th
So perfect
Out of this World Thank You Lads !!!

Superior Performance, Incredible beautiful work in music.
Love It
Best song i ever hird bifore
wow sending vibes from Bruce Springsteen to Elbow. Well done!
For my intelligent, sweet poet, Al
These guys are, IMHO, nothing short of the best band to come along in the last 10-15 years. Amazing lyrics. Amazing vocals. Amazing instrumentals. So much raw emotion it almost hurts to listen to sometimes. Whenever I hear the line "For the darkness, she will come... oh and you'll have nowhere left to run" I pretty much have a midlife crisis right then and there X-D. But really this song is about innocence and hope. Try not to lose it, people.

Is it just me or does the man with the trumpet/other wind instrument really looks like Henry VIII? The resemblance is uncanny.
