Bear's Den from London, UK, released their debut album "Islands" in 2014. The folk music band already supported bands like Mumford & Sons and travelled through the US for a film called "Austin to Boston" together with Ben Howard, The Staves and Nathaniel Rateliff. We met them before their sold-out gig in Cologne to record two songs. This one is called "Above the Clouds of Pompeii".

The most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. I listen to it every couple of months. It moves me to tears.
I found this around the time I lost my first dog. I miss him so much. I wish I gave him more time.
This song means so much to me. I lost my loved one, but she didn't passed away. However, something died inside me when we broke apart. Hearing this song is my personal homage to what I once felt for her.
This was recorded in a fucking park and sounds very similar to the studio version. Amazing

They are The Men in their genre. I think the same. Such a quality sound, great voices, and the cornet!

Extremely blessed that you can see the horn fingerings, you can bet I'll be using that later lol
Goddamn this song is sad. By the way, the Cardinal sessions are solid. Every performance sounds great.
such bearded and melodious beauty

This such a beautiful song, what amazing talent.
I just discovered bear's den like three weeks ago. Now I like to see their performance in KZread. I could say, they're addicting.
Always one of my top 50 BD songs... Love them allllll
Love love love this song Bet this song takes some crazy finger dexterity, respect 👍❤
Met these gents at the Edward Sharpe Big Top in LA several years ago, and hands down some of the nicest people ever.
Awesome! I've been very eager for this!
That guy on the left looks almost identical to Nathaniel Rateliff (another great beard and artist) overall great session, I'm new to Cardinal sessions and so far I am in love... Great video
A thing of great beauty.

No offense taken, to each their own and all that. Some might say having a lego cartoon game character as a profile pic is juvenile and "cringy" as well... we just don't feel the need to be immature and call others out on it is all ;) Have a great rest of your day.
So freakin good! :)
Awesome
You should include where your videos are shot, i would love to visit this park

+Adam Evans its a cornet not a trumpet but generally speaking they are almost exactly the same
anyone know what specific instrument the guy in the back plays? it looks a bit short to be a regular trumpet but im not familiar with them all.
@adamhargreaves7461

+Stephanie Fretwell it's a brass cornet

+Stephanie Fretwell Like +Adam Hargreaves said, it's a Brass Cornet, for beginners and intermediate players there really is no difference between a trumpet and cornet, they have very similar sound capabilities at the lower levels of experience :) Cornets have a warmer sound to them typically.

yeah def a cornet or it could be a jelly tip
@marcushamblett

Hey Stephanie - that's me at the back! and I can confirm it is a cornet. If you unraveled it, the tube length would be the same as a trumpet, but cornets are wound round an extra time. Also the trumpet's tubing is straight until it gets bigger at the bell (cylindrical bore) whereas a cornet gets gradually bigger as it goes along (cylindrical bore, same as flugelhorns and tubas) which gives it a softer sound. They are used more in marching bands and stuff. I prefer them!
when is the beard fashion finally over aigain? :)

+Loris Pignoletti a tad late, but may I suggest listening with your ears and not your eyes 👀? To each their own, but how they look has nothing to do with how they sound.

You guys just have this stupid thing going on that every fucking band that has a banjo wants to become Mumford and Sons. Bear's Den sounds nothing like them and it is just as great, learn to apreciate
