There is another man that post bears with cubs that come to his porch to ear from the bird feeder while he sits on the porch. He is calm and speaks occasionally in a nice voice. The f one starts to come close to him he tells it no, nah, back the bear or cub turns around. He has mom he calls Ruby return every year. He even keeps a large tub of water out for them over by a small creek. He doesn’t always refill the bird feeder so the bears know that there is not always food there for them. It’s so cool how they don’t care one but that he is there.

I do to! I miss Simone she had 4 cubs. Came to visit him a few times. To show off her cubs. And we haven’t seen her, for awhile now.

Patrick gets out on the porch with the bears and they pretty much ignore him. Some times the cubs will come up to him and check him out and follow mom off the porch and into the woods.

Here in Arcadia California we have a couple who have a family of bears that come swimming in their pool every year all summer long....they love them and buy them pool toys. They also post the wild dear and cougars that come down...

Just trying to survive like everyone else. Love that dangling leg.

Visit Patrick Conley from Asheville NC He has a menagerie of black bears...this year Ruby returned with 3 cubs...they just come on his porch while he is sitting there and he talks to them...then theres Poppy who isn't a porch bear but a very fluffy big girl...

I read a couple of books about bears and they’re as smart and intelligent as some of the larger apes. Very quick learners.

Oh my! And I get upset when crows take over my bird feeder! The bear will be back. You have to take the bird feeder down for a while. It will learn that the food is gone. After a while, you can put it back up.

​@@andyforgitah, should've read this before commenting! Bird seeds are chockfull of fatty acids (omega 3), so they're very healthy for bears. But bears are messy eaters, you have to clean up after them or you will attract rats, etc. with the spilled seeds. But let's just appreciate how clever this girl is that she's figured out that the stairs lead to the birdfeeder!

Don't leave doors open.

You don't need to feed birds in the summer, a bear getting to familiar with humans risks being killed or if he/she is lucky moved far away, so you're doing no one a favour.
