Bear Mountain Loop Trail (New York): Bear Mountain State Park
We hiked the Bear Mountain Loop Trail for the second time on May 13, 2022! We were excited to bring our rescue dogs Tucker & Chase along for the hike (it was way too hot last time)! This trail is ranked #1 on All Trails for the state of New York and we can definitely see why. The views of the Hudson River and surrounding area are beautiful and the hiking & rock scrambling is a lot of fun. We hope you enjoy this video as much as Tucker & Chase enjoyed the hike! We did the Bear Mountain Loop Trail and parked in the main lot.
Is this good for first timers? This trail looks amazing. Friends & I are possibly planning to do this trail in the next few weeks.

All Trails ranks this as “moderate,” it’s not too long but it does have over 1,000 feet of elevation gain! If you’re an active person, this should be able to do this- just take your time, start early so it’s not too hot, and bring a lot of water! Good luck and have fun! :)
Would this be doable for small and medium dog?

I can’t see why not, we have 2 medium sized dogs and they had no issues.

FYI. There is a bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal that goes to Bear Mountain.

Route 9W North Bear Mountain, NY 10911 is the address in Google, the trail starts at the main parking lot area by the big lake. It should pop up in AllTrails that’s what we used.
