Bear Claw Style Door Latch In a Model A: How I Installed Inner Door Linkage
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is episode 116 of Bad Hombre Garage! Follow along in this episode as I finally get around to installing the door handles on my 1929 Ford Model A. It was a little more challenging than just bolting new parts on, as I adapted a bear claw style latch on each door. Go back and watch Episode 46 from a year ago to see how the door latch install went (or hit the popup link in this video). Parts used were some original door handles, @speedwaymotors bear claw latches, and scrap metal laying around the garage. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for finding my channel! This is a follow-along series while I work on projects, though some may consider it a rat rod build or hot rod build series. There's plenty of how-to, though I'm not an expert! Watch and you tell me!
I'm just one dude in a two-car garage building hot rods and living the American Dream! Follow along- Let's build this community!

Wish I could have made this simpler for you before you started, a couple of bicycle brake cables would make this a real simple job. Some good imagineering you had to do.

Hmmm, I like your idea. Still would’ve involved fabricating ways to mount the cable but it would look cleaner. Good idea.
Great Job ! Smart and easy. Thanks for sharing.

At least you have some of the inside parts to your doors .Some "genius" gutted the whole inside of the doors on my 1930 Ford Model A that has a body by Murray so yeah that means it has four doors.

Oh man, there are a lot of parts you are going to have to replace. I was lucky to have what I did have.

@@BadHombreGarage Yeah and it turns out Murray parts cost way more than regular Model A parts. Thankfully what I paid for the car was not a lot.
Good work !!

Thanks, it’s kind of ugly, but it will all be hidden in the door.
P - LM,. nice job wonder if a trottle cable setup could work?? Pondering.

Took me a minute to get it, then I laughed! Thanks for the memories- I’m headed to the Talon retirement today.

And yep, I’ve seen a guy use the cable setup and it worked pretty good. Nice way to hide the setup, especially if you shave the outer handles.

@@BoxcarsGarage Hurby club. Dinner, social to follow. Tonight!
these only work on a door where you turn the door handle and not a push button ??????????

I’m sure a guy could make them work with a push button door handle- it’s just a matter of leverage.
