Those can weigh like 20 tonnes, 20 tonnes suddenly stopping from 60kph in lets say 0.1 second is about 17g, so that 20 tonnes becomes 340 tonnes (the force on the chains). Close to 5 M1 abrams main battle tanks, those chains are like pubic hair to that kind of force.

In South Africa the steel coils are positioned differently on the trailer,they would never roll to the cab but to the side in case of accident.
