    What determines the direction of the curvature loading? Is it just a convention such that the loading is upwards when the beam is under comp at top and tension at bottom?

    @ eyeGOPu1 as the loading is a uniformly distributed load UDL so total force on the span = loading per unit distance[w(x)] times the loading distance and the moment about the point is multiply the shear force with the center of its action to the section C so 4m times 5m.

    I have a quick question, what will happen if your deflection and angle turned up to be negative and not as they should be (positive) ?

  • @structurefree

    @structurefree

    9 жыл бұрын

    Mel13z the internal moment diagram would change and consequently the curvature diagram and then the conjugate loading direction would change...give it a shot.

    but this beam has to be translated since it has different moment of inertia, how come you not using 250*4 for the translated section AB and 500*3 for BC and taking moment arms respectively

    Your V'c should be equal to V'c={ (2000N.m^2 / EIab) + (1500N.m^2 / EIbc) } you should square the meter see ~ 9:00
