Rather than amplitude or (shudder) "involvement of the body parts," I'd say that what sets Ellie's movement apart and earns the "artistic" in gymnastics is that all movement begins and stays rooted in intention. Movement rooted in intention does tend to have more amplitude, but much smaller intentional movements can be captivating as well. Most of the time, a gymnast will just raise their arm because the choreographer said so, forgetting that an arm that reaches out for something is different in texture and quality to an arm that raises to block, to catch, or to find balance, even if each one ends in second position. Intention yields texture, focus, and often amplitude, all in a way the audience can't put into words. That's why it isn't words, but rather movement.

You know why they aren’t giving their commentary about scores? Because they point out deductions, the scores come back overinflated and the commentaries look stupid.

Does anyone know if Nina is training bars again or is she still resting her shoulder? I really want her to compete in bars final again. The Paris bars final will be so crazy, there are so many bars gymnasts who can get high scores (Kaylia, whoever ends up on the American team but there will be two amazing routines, two Chinese gymnasts, maybe Nina, maybe Becky Downie). Thee final I'm looking forward to the most

The commentary and coverage has been awful! Big 10 is seriously a joke at this point. I enjoyed Kennedy Baker and Alex Pearlman together as commentators. They had a nice dynamic.

Sorry, I don’t see it in Ellie’s dance. It’s good. It’s not spectacular. And it doesn’t have monster amplitude.
