Interesting interview. Two things really stand out here. This must have been before Carl realized what a quack "Dr." Landy was because he was actually complimenting him. He would eventually have to take legal action to get him away from Brian because of the harm he was doing to him mentally, as well as the ridiculous amount of money he was forcing Brian to pay him. The other thing that stands out is the discussion about the band not being serious about rehearsing their material, which caused Carl to walk away for awhile. To his credit, he expected the band to go out and do their best, whether playing their old standards or new material, and no matter the venue or the size of the crowd. I admired that about him so much. He truly cared about the fans and felt we deserved to get their best.

My parents got to meet Carl when visiting Oahu in the late 80s early 90s and I got to see Carl and band thankfully at a state fair when I was a little kid. And one of my greatest concerts ever attended was going to see Brian Wilson perform Pet Sounds in its entirety as well as a first set of the classic chart numbers. Al Jardine and his son were there and the band was incredible. Wish Carl and Dennis were still alive. I don’t think The Beach Boys will ever truly be The Beach Boys without a Wilson brother in it. I’d rather support Brian from here onward. His Mike sounds like is better than Mike as I don’t want to give him any of my money any more. Hope Brian has many more healthy happy years ahead, long live The Beach Boys and the magic of live artistic performances! Wish he was still around.

Do you feel that you know anything about Carl that you would share for an indepth biography of his life? Not his music so much but his family and relationships, dreams, and hopes?

Wow! Reference to Carolyn the nurse! Never thought I'd hear that! Obviously Carl was OK (at the time) with Brian with Landy because the guys basically fired Brian unless he went with Landy.

That was absolute BS, you must have read AND believed that so called auto-biography "Wouldn't it be Nice" and believed it. Landy was behind that. Brian W didn't even read it.

@@bassball67 nope. I read it but don't believe it. Which part is BS? The firing BW if he didn't go with Landy? Brian's A&E Biography mentions it.

He couldn't be fired, it was a ruse. No, I wasn't there, but the book I mentioned is not a good reference. It was biased towards Landy.

@@bassball67 I understand it's not a good reference, I was just saying I read it as you said I must have. I was referencing the A&E Biography which came out in the late 90s. I wasn't there as well of course, just referring to what was said on the documentary

@@justinplank I have the A & E Biography myself and have watched it several times. I'll stand corrected, it's been a while. I may have forgotten. I remember it talks about Dennis being kicked out, I just didn't recall Brian actually being fired.
