Have worked in Gerontology and know this is a fear. Even I can be afraid of being alone when old. We have taken care of all the elderly in our family, and our children and grandchildren and shown love, been taught this way, but things change. When you do not have a daughter, it can be harder, if you have daughter in laws who could not care so much, only for their own patents it can be very tough on parents. Families move away in different ways now, and we never know what will happen in the end. Such a needed lesson this truly has been. TY! God bless you always, dear Rabbi Schnieder

I know what it's like to be looked down upon by a parent. The specific reason why it happened to me would bring some to tears. However, the Most High God is greater than the worldly nonsense that stops at nothing to cause pain. I recommend Psalm 145 as a reference point.

I have the same problem. I have a father that has never liked me. He has done his best to separate me from the rest of the family and he has been successful. I am in my mid 50's now and my mother recently passed but he is still alive and still is horrible toward me even though he is a Christian and a decon in the church.. :(

Rabbi Thank you for reminding me, by sharing the peace of God in your most painful valley. I remember that revelation of God's peace when He carried me at the shooting of my only son Harlan Minh Ha; who was the only person on earth who had confidence in me and even knew God as I had lead him. Harlan's race was run early. Jesus got me, my daughter and my (at that time husband through the family/friends night at the cemetery. The next day however was the funeral and burial service. My prayer was " Lord, You are gona have to help me; because I can not put my son in the ground. He did! Jesus made me just numb. Medication was suggested the day before and I declined that offer. The Lord is my strength. Thank you Rabbi for the reminder!
