Be Free and Skate! - Inline Skating City Flow Skate

You know it's a good city inline skating session when you have to stop and pull out your phone to figure out exactly where you've ended up. That's the kind of session this was. I just kept going where my feet wanted to take me and got to exploring even more of the city. There's no better way to mix discovery and fun than inline skating in the city.
Skates: FR1 Deluxe Intuition
Frames: Endless 100
Wheels: Undercover Team Blank (100mm 86a hardness)

Thanks for watching! Nothing beats that feeling of zipping around with wheels on your feet. So addicting! One of the goals of the channel is to just put more rollerblading content out into the world in hopes that it looks fun to other people.

And winter hasn’t even technically started yet here :( I got a lot of skating in last winter, so hopefully I will this year too. Granted, some of it will be in parking garages etc. if it snows, but we’ll see. I hope it doesn’t rain too much and you get some skating in.

Where do you live without being tooo specific just out of curiosity and which cam are you using insta or go pro? Do you plan routes or just go where the wheels take you?

I live in the Philadelphia suburbs. This video and the past half dozen or so have been in the city of Philadelphia. So I have to drive to skate Philly proper. I’ll go in, park somewhere and just let wheels take me! I didn’t expect to enjoy the exploration aspect of skating so much, but I love it. Of course not every route turns out to be good, but the more you skate the more you get a feel for the city. I use the Insta360 ONE R Twin Edition on a selfie stick I’m holding out in front of me.

I wonder what the situation looks like shortly before wheel rotation and then afterwards on pre-rockered frames. I suspect the wear is uneven and therefore it is more difficult to get the intended basic configuration?

  • @rerollinginline

No rotation approach will ever be perfect on any frame. There are too many variables that affect exactly how wheels wear. That being said, I try to keep the intended rocker of the frame design. I switch 1-3 and 2-4 wheels on most rotations. The most important part is that you look at the wheels and don’t just blindly follow a pattern. I follow the pattern, but then adjust as I see fit. I know plenty of people keep positions of all wheels and just switch skates and flip. That however, makes the rocker become more dramatic over time. I like the default rocker of the frame though, so I rotate my wheels as though I were trying to keep a flat setup flat, if that makes sense. And of course it’s all personal preference and there’s no right answer.

@@rerollinginline I have the NN 4x90. After a rotation, I test the rocker on a marble surface, then I find the right configuration by selecting the wheels thoroughly so that the original rocker is unaltered like when they are brand new. In fact, there is no absolute rule about swapping wheels on a natural-rockered setup, it's very personal, it depends on the way of skating.

  • @rerollinginline

@@emmanuelriou7174 yes, I do something similar and always check the rocker before I’m done. I agree that’s it’s all up to personal preference as well. I love the very subtle rocker of the Endless frames so I try ti keep it as much as possible.

@@rerollinginline Thank you for this detailed answer. I basically don't pay attention to the position number of the wheels but align to a flat surface. In another comment you wrote that your 100mm wheels have now shrunk to 92mm. It would soon be possible to put these wheels in the 4x90 frames and milk the urethane any further.

Did the skate get caught on the lower step on that close jump?

  • @rerollinginline

At 3:35 I was just riding off those couple of steps. But the grey pavers of the steps were higher than the red bricks I was coming from. So yes, it was a big enough difference that I kinda tripped and the skate almost got caught. It was supposed to be flush, but I guess have settled and are uneven now. That’s why it took me by surprise, otherwise I’d have just jumped.

100mm Undercover Team Blank wheels (86a hardness). Though in this video they’re probably worn to about 92mm.
