** Description **
The Losail Circuit is located just outside Doha, in the new city of Losail in the Persian Gulf, Qatar. The track is 5.38 km long, featuring a main straight of just over a kilometer. Built in 2004, the circuit is surrounded by artificial grass
to prevent sand from covering the track. In 2007, permanent lighting was added for night races, making it the world's largest permanently lit sports venue. In 2021, it hosted its first Qatar Grand Prix as part of the F1 Championship. During the 2021 qualifs, Lewis Hamilton set the track record
with a 1:20:8 lap time, beating Max Verstappen. There was no Grand Prix in 2022 due to the soccer World Cup, but Formula One is back in Qatar for 2023.
