ATB boost is working as intended. The effect is that it doubles your current ATB, so if you just use it at the start of the fight, when you have 0.1 ATB bars, it just takes you to 0.2 ATB bars lol You need to either pair it with a First Strike Materia (so you start with something to double) or hold off using it until you build up some ATB manually.

​@@optimusgrime8265 It worked the same way in Remake lol I think that big difference is that in remake you got several first strike materia really early, so you were probably always using both together at the same time. But because first strike is more limited in this game, you are not pairing them together. As long as you make sure to time it when you have 1 full atb bar, it is basically 1 free atb bar every 60 secs, which is nice. You just have to use it at the right time.

Cait sith is the coolest guy And the box section at the shinra manor was awesome, i even paused the game then played his original theme song just so i could feel the thrill of the minigame

I laughed way too hard the first time he meowed the victory theme.

Something that you didn't mention in the video, the way you build the moogle gauge isn't just by pressing triangle (which wouldn't work if you wanna get the 2 charge abilities since youll use up the 1 charge by pressing triangle). You can either let the moogle do its own thing or you can ride it but just stand for a bit and let the moogle attack enemies automatically. That will make your gauge build up a lot faster. Some people think that you can only build moogle gauge by pressing triangle when you're riding the moogle but actually just let the moogle do its thing while youre riding it and the guage will fill up quickly.

Thats actually VERY useful info, I was going crazy trying to find out why I couldn't get his status effect spells.

I like cait sith in this game... Crazy, every time I play og ff7 I NEVER put him in my party except when he joins in corel prison.... But in this game he's super fun when you understand how to play him, he's actually charming in this game while he was just annoying in the original, and he actually feels more important to the story

He has not left my party because he's a ton of fun to use. I love his dice roll attack.

In OG FF7 i always regarded Caith Sith as a joke. Him instakilling my party one time really rubbed me the wrong way lol. I was hesistant to like him in Rebirth and found him clunky. Took a little bit of time to see what he was all about and ended up loving him. He's unironically broken in fights once he gets going. This guide even furthered that understanding, never knew half of this stuff!

Whatever stat increases a summon gives only are active while they are out, choco mog gives magic and luck

You're missing several of his abilities like Moogle Magic etc

That ability is fucking crazy especially for 1 bar

I struggled using him at first but now that im in hard mode im making more of an effort. Ive found that he pairs best with tifa to push the stagger gauge. The extra body is a nice distraction for tifa to unleash hell with the free moogle buffs being the cherry on top. He really needs first strike to shine though to get your Moogle asap before he gets wrecked

Man, they improved them drastically from OG. Im sure almost no-one had them in their party in OG. Plus SE tricked everyone by only giving him 2 limit breaks lmao

There’s not many FF7 speed runners I’ve seen who do not have Cait Sith in their party - his Slots attack (3x Cait Sith) is insta-kill once mastered. It’s only meant to work once every 80 or so times (by luck then) but you can fudge it so it happens every single time. Lucky Slots is also in Rebirth, but I don’t think it has a insta-kill feature (it casts status effects)

I like that fat moogle will auto attack enemies while you ride him as long as you aren't moving or guarding and that will charge his moogles triangle attack way faster

I struggle to use him, but this is a really good beginner guide. I’ve just started learning yuffie and red, and I feel bad I haven’t really used tifa.

Can you make a small addendum video (maybe unlisted and pinned here) for the basic melee combo of the moogle and with Cait Sith on top? I know it dances around after a while but does the combo ends? Also, you only showcased the range attack on it but Cait has an extra melee range soundwave attack when attacking with it, I assume it is probably magic attack as well. And just to be thorough, are both version of the ranged attack (dodge attack/square on moogal) just a spam and not a combo itself like Aerith's? I hope you can do a more in depth guide on the abilities and buffs they grant.

The good thing about this game is that every character has some abilities that can be exploited that can make them break the game. Everybody is OP and then there is Yuffie OP S tier

First time I used him I was confused, but after a few battles I was like “yo this guy are sick” 🤪😂all seriousness tho you can build him to be a walking battle machine 😂 if the odds go in your favour your laughing at some fights like check this 😂 first person I’ve seen with any sort of guide for him too so GG’s.

I remember when he was THE WORST in the original. I remember when his only good use was a character you didn't mind leaving to die in battle like with Ruby and Emerald Weapons. Or when using materia on him without having to move the slots on your superior members around. I even remember how TERRIBLE his limit break was. Not much damage, the highest possible damage was a literal dice roll like the other results for it except much rarer and less reliable, AND no additional effects, let alone any that would have made it worth using. Nice table turn for him.

Just let go of the left analogue stick, then push it in a direction and let go again. He will walk automatically so the normal movement becomes his dodge.

Yeah man that would be nice. I love the strategy of the battle simulator, but hard to test skills without becoming frustrated, totally agree it would be a welcome addition.

Cait Sith is actually Scottish Gaelic, not Japanese. Fantastic video tho, I've loved playing as Cait Sith so far.

When you ride the moogle it walks automatically so you use the left stick to dodge, and it can be used to dodge but very few i-frames as I recall.

I haven't unlocked him yet, but he looks like he can do some damage and that healing looks really useful. Right now I've just been rocking cloud, barrett and switching between tifa, red and aerith. Though once I unlock Yuffie I'll probably be using her a lot. I dunno why but i like using barrett as my anchor becuase he's a tank and very simple to play for my simple mind. The only time I've had the whole party die is fighting titan at full power at the start which was a mistake. Then i made the exploding plasma Cloud build stacked with the magic infusing weapon materia and just wreck everything. That enemy skill materia is so damn good. Wish there was a fast way to level materia....it's so damn slow

Yeah man, it's by design, if you play on dynamic some enemies are stupid difficult. Red also makes a great tank or support character, so if you get tired of barret, swap him in. Also he gets REALLY strong.

I use first strike then enable bonus shot at the start of the battle and have him filling the stagger gauges. I exclusively used Barret and Red together for the entire grasslands but started feeling bad about leaving tifa and aerith on the bench and now they get some game time. Once yuffie joins they'll be relegated back to the bench and red will join them lol
