    I commented previously on question 1. I think that the information given is incorrect and needs to be reviewed. The answer should be prediction. An observation was conducted and a correlation was identified. Therefore this would satisfy both the description AND prediction level of scientific understanding. But based on options given by the question prediction would be the highest level of understanding

    Hi. I’m trying to understand question one. Based on the reasoning you gave it seems like the answer would be prediction. Could you explain how it’s a description and/or makes A correct and B wrong. I’m a bit confused and take the exam soon. This would really help. Thanks.

    Can I ask why question #1 wouldn't be prediction? When I read it, it seemed important that "when another dog passes" was added. If it was description I thought it would only be describing the response of the one dog but in question one it seems to indicate a correlation between two events, which is what I thought was prediction. Studying for my exam now and trying to understand! Thanks!

    Hi. When you are writing a description or operational definition of a behavior, it often includes the condition under which the behavior has occurred. If it was prediction there would be some indication that said. Lucky barked at three dogs that past the house. As a result, Jessica predicted or thought or guessed ect that lucky would bark in the future when a dog passes. With prediction you will have some sort of key word like any that i just mentioned, assumed, hypothesized ect. and it will refer to a future event. Hope that helps.

    @@HopeEducationServices I'm reading this question as well. I get the reasoning you're given and I'm not sure why the fact that Jessica "wrote out" what would happen didn't qualify as a keyword in the same way as assumed, hypothesized, etc.

    Indirect assessments do not meet any level of scientific understanding because it is indirect ( subjective) Observations meet both description (description of facts/ what you observe) and prediction ( observe a correlation) criteria

  • @traceybyrne8283

    @traceybyrne8283

    Жыл бұрын

    Therefore only direct assessments satisfy both levels of scientific rigor. Description of facts i.e the dog barking when seeing another dog if based on an observation would be at the level of prediction i.e correlation of events - two events may occur at the same time, hence what is asked in the question. Indirect assessments starts the hypotheses process, direct assessments informs the hypotheses through observation , while control confirms the hypotheses.

  • @andrewbennett6089

    @andrewbennett6089

    @@traceybyrne8283 I see directly in the question that the hypothesis was based on an observation of the behavior occurring, so under the logic you gave it would be prediction. Are you arguing for it being description?
