Ah, so it's quite simple. Make sure your dampner is extended to its max. throughout the install. So after removing your stock spring and dampner, these are the steps: 1: Mount the top side of the dampner to the car. 2: Put in the spring (+adjustment collar), and use a jack to raise the suspension to remove the slack from the spring (touching top and bottom spring seats). 3: From this setting, you raise the suspension with the jack 7-10mm to add the preload (measured at the spring!). 4: You then adjust the height of the dampner untill the hole matches up with the mounting hole. Now the spring is locked in place by the dampner, so it cannot pop out if your wheel looses contact with the road. 5: Fix the lower dampner bolt to the suspension. Things might vary slightly on the type of suspension (for a fixed rear axle it might be best to setup 1 side, and to measure the setting of the lowering collar, and the length of the dampner and just copy it to the other side). This procedure is always the same no matter what ride height you use (this is set with the collars above the spring). The only thing what you do with a different ride height is to readjust the dampner length to keep the corect pretention.

so on my BCs, I adjusted the shock until the threads bottomed out, but it still seems to ride pretty high, I even adjusted the preload and no difference. I was able to twist the shock and lower the spring without removing anything tho?

I had a shop lower the rear for me, but I don't think they did it properly. I think they just adjusted the springs and did not adjust the dampner. Is there a way I could prove this?

  • @ThruDaLenz

ok so after you set your your spring length. you will set the preload by compressing the spring 7-10mm with control arm and then locking the preload settting by adjusting the shock height to fit the control arm bolt while the spring is compressed 7-10mm... ok got it thank u

  • @JustinsSoapbox

Someone at BC is directing customers to this video in response to complaints about ride height that's too low in the rear with their coilovers even with the spring adjusters set to max height. He's saying this process will fix that. It won't. The point of this procedure is to make sure the damper tops out before the spring is fully unloaded, so that there's always a little compression on the spring to keep it in place. That's necessary because you don't want your spring to be able to fall out of place when the suspension unloads. Shortening the damper body further past that point will trade droop travel for bump travel, which is also fine where necessary. What this procedure won't do is affect ride height. Yes, adding preload this way will reduce how much the spring compresses when the car is on the ground - but it'll do that by pulling the control arm up by an equal amount, so in terms of ride height you'll be back where you started. If the spring adjuster is maxed out, your ride height is maxed out. No way to fix that by adjusting the damper length. So, if you're too low with the spring adjuster maxed out, either your install is messed up or the kit is.

Brandon DUB adjust it on the collar on the springs, max out low means the 2collar need to be max on top of the spring perch, adjusting it to go high tide height are kinda tricky cause the distance on collar from the Pearce doesn’t mean is the same distance of your wheels on the fender so you might start from one inch distance from collar to perch then install back wheels and see there where you want the gap of wheels from fender.
