Unfortunately, the more I learn about postflop play the slower I am. I don’t have years of experience to think quickly. I am slow at ranging opponents postflop. However, I agree with the time bank shortening, but the site a play on has 90 second disconnect which is 100% being used as a way to cheat as well. Both on the bubble in tournaments and during a hand to use computer assistance.

Slow thinking = bad poker player. It really is that simple. When the timebanks are so massive, that even average Joe can calculate the best play it is not really poker anylonger.. And really do not matter if it is the player or a computer who does these calculations.

Good video. I like the idea of reducing the time bank, but not entirely eliminating it. Maybe 20 second shot clock pre flop, and 1 minute of time bank per level for hard decisions. The 1 minute doesn't roll over so max time bank per level is 1 minute. Maybe have at the final table a bit more? I like that you went looking for solutions rather than blaming/naming etc.

Great analysis from a great mind. I really think this is a very good idea. Dont see so many downsides compare to the positive gained by this method in the poker community: . "Slow thinkers" will still loose against the cheater either way. One thing i am worried about that poker sites maybe not want to make this change is that people are gonna play less tables and it equals less money and less prizepool for a surtain tournament. i cannot believe that the change hasnt already been made or at least reduced a alot, i guess we are a minority of "Mike McDermott´s" vs a world full off "Worm´s". Thanks and Keep up the good work Maestro will join your poker coaching real soon.

Yeah my main intention was to establish the link between the time bank and cheating. Once the connection is firmly established poker sites can innovate around what's best. But unfortunately I know for a fact that there's a disconnect at a lot of major poker sites from the professional poker player community. And as a result this type of information that should be common sense in their position might elude them... Your suggestion makes sense to me though!

I don't know how RTA cheating is done exactly but I would assume that they use some type of script that feeds info about current hand to solution software (hand, stacks, position, etc) rather than entering data manually into solution software. Am I correct? If that's the case then time bank reduction would do very little...

First, I'm not an expert exactly in what methods are deployed or how to do it but my understanding currently is that anything that would interact with the poker client would be more easily detectable by poker sites. It can happen but the risk of getting caught is the balance is confiscated and it's probably a pain to reopen accounts so I'm not sure how plausible that is. Second, I suspect most people who cheat aren't doing it in the most sophisticated GTO way. They're humans. They're just looking up solutions manually because they know if they do it they'll have an edge. I am sure someone could do what you're suggesting but I don't think that's as widespread (maybe I'm wrong). Especially when you read/listen to/watch the stories about the people behaving unethically one gets the sense that sophistication is in as short a supply as their ethics.

Being good in chess myself, this chess analogy doesn't really work 1on1. You could run an engine (a solver, in poker) side-by-side and read out realtime evaluations (best possible action in poker). Would still be easy to crush everyone. Chesssites therefore monitor CPU-usage, but that's not really a 100% fix. In chess, cheating is a huge problem as well, much bigger than in poker to be honest - as every player has easy access to free software that would crush the worlds' best. The fix you propose does work for now, but as pokersoftware gets quicker, better and more easily available, shortening (eliminating) the time-factor wouldn't really work as well as it would right now. But I don't really see any other option either. If you look at high-level online chess tournament (in analogyform; high stakes online), they get monitored with webcams/mics/livefeeds. All the feeds are being recorded and available for analysis by the arbiters. Don't really see that happening in poker tho, but it's a way to stop RTA.

I can’t see these solutions working, and if they did it would be very short lived. I’ve watched lots of videos on it following all the recent revelations. RTA software isn’t run on the same system as the poker client. The technological capabilities of OCR these days allows that. From what I understand, the RTA can give solutions within seconds. (I think the examples/footage I saw was on Andreas Frohli’s channel, but not 100% sure.) The only viable solution seems to be the sites having access to you system’s camera but even then would need to be 360’ view. Even then they could only review post play and if decision accuracy is > x%. What would stop a remote camera being hidden in the room which can’t be seen viewing the screen, transmitting to remote RTA software and informing decision to the player via a microscopic earpiece? Technology development seems to make online poker unviable now.

Hate to say this. You are wrong. Poker is a critical game and requires a lot of thinking. I am a "slow" thinker and most players are. Eliminating time banks will just damage everyone's game play. I take average 10 seconds per decision on turn/river to think of sizing. I play and win a lot, I still do this. Average player should not be punished because others cheat. If you reduce time to think, you actually reward the cheaters since they already have an answer within 20-30seconds based on their bullshit solver.

Time really is not an issue for a sophisticated cheater, for example gtowizard is using URL-parameters for different flops and betting actions. Wouldnt really be a feat of software engineering to code a screen reader that reads the board and just parses a url-string to search on a browser, which instantly opens gtowizard on the right solution. The gto-software could have time delay of its own, but that would make the user experience terrible for a regular and honest customer, which hurts their business, so not really a viable solution either. Example of such url-parameters (BTN open BB defend spot): solutions?gametype=MTTGeneral&depth=30.125&preflop_actions=F-F-F-F-F-R2.1-F-C&history_spot=9&depth_list=30.125&board=AsKsQs&flop_actions=X
