What size expanded metal did you use? I always use #9 1x3/4, but I like the smaller metal you have there.

Question to anyone out their, what’s the difference between these type of grates and the regular grill ones that are straight during cooking? Is it for the sear or just preference ?

From my perspective, its way easier and faster to fabricate with the sheet of expanded metal.

What metal is the grill grate made of? Is it 304, 430, 443?

Hello Gills, This grill grate is is carbon steel, can't remember if its A36 or 38W. I strip the mill scale off before use. That being said, I have used 304 & 316 in the past. Thanks

I guess it depends were you live lol. I predominantly use Canada Steel Inc for all mild steel / low carbon material. Most steel comes in 20' or 24' lengths. Most steel distributers will cut for a small fee. Best of luck
