I wasn’t born then, but I do know that it was very iconic. It was the first hosted by two countries, Japan and South Korea. The two countries were originally rivals in the host selection process but eventually agreed to combine their bids.

I was 19 when I saw this for the first time, and even today, I think this Animation, the music and the quality of this video is fantastic! Credit to the people who made this!

This was an incredible World Cup! Changed the game Japan and Korea did, with high tech infrastructure and stadiums. I was just a kid as the time and remember watching a lot of games during school due to time difference. Won by an incredible Brazil side

What made that wc potentially so good was the array of talent in comparison to other years

Nice quality. Reminds me of Aeon Flux. So it took NFL 13 years to try an anime promo.

O:57 Beckham had to revover early from a Broken Metarsel to make the World cup in Korea/Japan hence this scene

I was really hoping an anime sequence would be the actual BBC World Cup opening titles- not just a promo

The only people who wouldn't / didn't like this presentation would be those who don't enjoy / like anime (and manga of course). And their subjectivity is forfeit. Great video. Alan Hansen and Gary look better as anime characters than they do as real flesh and blood organisms! Thought I'd share that.

Amazing. The BBC should have used this as the opening titles to their 2002 WC match coverage, not the rather bland sequence they actually used.

Anthony Cutler Kashmir- led zepellin but this is a remix
