Great final! Amazing to see Becky and Ellie still crushing it, hope they both make it to Paris next year. And another great performance from Alice, well earned Gold medal.

I’m no judge but I was a little confused with hers and Alice scores. Doesn’t Becky have more difficulty?

@@a_2502 Becky has a 6.3 start value, alice a 6.2 so it's not a big gap...

I was expecting something between 8.0 and 8.1 (basically a tenth better) but it was understandable. You can say she was a bit underscored (max 0.2) but not much AT ALL. Alice totally deserved to win.

Becky will have been deducted at least 0.1 from her E score for the handstand form break, and possibly up to 0.3; plus another 0.1-0.3 for lack of flight on her Hindorff (uprise clear circle to hecht straddle Tkachev) - I suspect 0.3 because she only made it because she's so supple & fast at the required backward rotation. If you haven't seen the videos Emily at FlipFlyTumble puts on here re: judging (she's an FIG Elite judge) I highly recommend them - they're very helpful in understanding the breakdown of E and D scores.

Can one of these gymnasts not rely on straddle cast and throw in some straight body cast?! It’s sad to see that we seem to have lost straight body cast since the 1990s/2000s…Most of these routines also feel very cookie cutter. Also see so many full-in or full-out dismount on bars when this was done more than 30 years ago just makes it feel like the scoring system lacks balance.

Did he really say "no question at all about these handstands" about Becky's routine? Seriously?

@@indymae 10° is to get an element credited and then depending on the element there are deductions up to 0.5 depending on the angle she finished at. So her handstands are fine from a D scoring point of view and within the 10° there is no E deduction (which I would consider some handstands to be above) but I would still say it's a bad look if all your handstands are as close to the line of being credited/not deducted as you can get, especially compared to some other bar workers

Downie had no business winning a medal with those mistakes. Only finding 2 tenths difference in execution between second and third. And 3 tenths between third and 4th is just down right bad judging.

??? Becky scored 0.3 less in execution than Alice which is ridiculous. Alice had a giant leg separation on the maloney, low tkachev (not as low as Becky's hindorff but still low), a completely missed handstand on the inverted 1/1 (at least 0.3, maybe 0.5), and a missed cast What do you mean by "mistakes?" She had one cast that went a little over but managed it without even arching her back. She has a few built in deductions like everyone else but you're acting like she took huge steps or missed every connection

Bruh what? Becky hit a rly clean routine and she didn’t even go 8.0 E… the only real error was the overbalanced handstand
