Everyone: Don't pay for their liscence, courts will never & and can not issue warrants despite Beeb bluff letters, not unless you physically signed a "Liability Order" to pay the Beeb annually, then the courts could step in, big-but, no TV owner has nor are they asked to sign a liability order... (which were officially ceased in 1993) ...by the BBC to pay them an annual fee. Don't give them a penny. Don't let ballifs in for it, they have no more right than I have to break in your house because I claimed you owed me a fiver. Don't sign a ballif's "Chattle of Goods" for not having a licence as it gives them access rights to grab whatever you sign away, simply never open the door or let anyone inside for Beeb liscence related issues, more paperwork bluffs will be the only outcome

The cuts locally are so that the hosts of well known national programmes can be paid upwards of £300K per year, from Laura Kuenessberg to Gary Lineker. It's elitest, a tiny few who believe they know better and, as for the little guy, he can go swivel. They are desperate to water down or even not report stories. Because to have any hope of keeping the licence fee, they let the Tory or Labour person do the "explaining." Take the recent examples of ordinary people on strike. They are generally ridiculed, whilst the BBC reflects the government's position as "reasonable."

  • @angr3819

Good for her. Lady spoke the truth. At one time, local news were far less censored than national and international propaganda. The independents locals were also more able to speak out at least a bit. Now they all sing from the same hymn sheet and here is why: From Edwardian times the Rotten childs and a tiny few of their relatives got hold of the controlling shares of between a quarter to a third of some of the major news agencies. Thus they were able to dictate what the public were told, true or false. As they increased the number of media companies they owned the controlling shares of so they increased the amount of what the public were and were not allowed to hear. I have noticed that from circa 2010, they ALL seem to sing from the exact same hymn sheet, whereas before some were still sometimes diverging from the grand narrative. What happened in 2010? Well, we had a new PM and Chancellor of the Exchequer, both of whom are from banking families. No wonder all wars are bankers wars, and they were able to foment the two largest genocides in history with the world wars, and ensure that the US has constantly been at war for 80 years, plus other wars and supposed 'revolutions'. Thus, almost everything our grandparents, for some of us our gt grandparents, our parents, ourselves, our children and grandchildren have heard for over a century has been propaganda controlled by THEM. The same kh. az. aryan mafier for generation after generation. Only a tiny few exceptions remain independent, such as the online The Expose (a couple of months ago the Editor was put in hospital with an assignation attempt, after warnings. They haven't reported more. Not if he is still Editor, if he is recovered or even if he is alive. The staff of The Expose are under very real threat for telling the truth, with sources including information from the records of (mis)governments and other official sources, thus easily verifiable).

I had the home service and the light programme to keep me company and to learn from. Things haven't changed for the better since. Now I'm 78 living in Canada and my tablet is my wireless, but not everyone is that lucky. It sucks getting old and losing the familiar and comfortable things we enjoy. The not for profit, social enterprise model for radio in distinct areas, already exists in this country and worldwide. The name you're looking for is community radio. I took part in a few documentaries. With most production companies it was a cameraman, sound recordist and producer filming at a house or in the corner of a pub. When I was filmed for the BBC, they had literally van loads of people and gear and hired out the top floor of the Tate Modern. No shots from or of the Modern. A total waste of manpower and money.
